As a matter of fact, black lives matter very much to blacks! I am not in the least excusing what this man did. He is responsible for his own actions and deserves to go to jail for life. However, people of color live in a pressure cooker, not of their own making, of discrimination and harassment. This breeds anger and resentment. While many black men are able to rise above it and become productive members of society, it takes a considerable toll on their health and have shorter life expectancies because of it. How about instead of sitting in judgement and being part of the problem, showing some compassion and being part of the solution?

Let’s suppose he did not have a gun and or didn’t choose to use it. Wouldn’t all be better off? If you feel like it, please feel free to attempt to excuse that away too. @MuguetDeMai

Hey Toots, the pressure cooker you reference is called life. We're all in it. Some cope with cold french fries better than others.

@jackjjackson Let's suppose that bored white kids didn't have access to high powered guns and didn't go shooting up schools and killing kids. Wouldn't we all be better off? Please feel free to attempt to excuse that away.

But to answer your question, hell yes I fully support strict gun control laws son that that things like this don't happen.

@Budwick Life is hard for everyone, but it is harder for people who are purposely kept down by deeply insecure bullies.
@MuguetDeMai You are racist.
MuguetDeMai · 56-60, F
@DffrntDrmmr Me, how the hell am I racist?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
While not on topic I agree with the substance of your first paragraph however I’d substitute nuts or crazy, or mentally scarred. Gun control laws would not have stopped the french fry killer. @MuguetDeMai

@MuguetDeMai
I fully support strict gun control laws son that that things like this don't happen.
This happened in Brooklyn. This means that the New York prohibits the open carry of loaded firearms. Shocking that the rules didn't play a factor in this case.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
What? You mean the gun control laws in effect in that location did not prevent this tragedy? @Budwick

Who is the one being kept down in the case?
Who is the insecure bully?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
She certainly has made a good case that she is. @DffrntDrmmr
MuguetDeMai · 56-60, F
@Budwick People of color are intentionally kept down in society so that insecure white people have a scape goat and someone they can feel superior to. Not that black people cannot be bullies or be bad people, I am just saying that they have very little room to improve their lot in life. More needs to be done to help them advance in society.
MuguetDeMai · 56-60, F
@jackjjackson Please lay out the case because I am missing something. How the hell am I racist? If you don't clearly make your case, I am going to assume that this is simply projection to defend your delicate, fragile ego.

You have passed your CRT training!
Unfortunately, that won't do you any good in the real world.

Who do you think was kept down in this story?
The McDonalds employee, now brain dead?
The woman complaining about cold fries?
The man that shot the employee?
MuguetDeMai · 56-60, F
@Budwick CRT is an esoteric theory that is only taught to doctoral students in particular areas of study. My degree is in computer science so I never studied it. I have, however, lived more of life than you ever will. Get out of your little Podunk town and see the world, get to understand it and stop being so fearful.

All the people you mentioned have been affected by institutional racism.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@MuguetDeMai Muguet - YOU, have been affected by institutional racism.
And are yourself a racist!
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Incorrect. That brainwashing is not limited to doctoral candidates. When you stick to he facts you are much more persuasive and eloquent. @MuguetDeMai

@Budwick I have in no way shape or form been affected by institutional racism. I come from old New York money and I am as white as wonder bread. Racial equality, for reasons too long to get into here, is a huge issue to my family and my parents got me involved in activism at a young age. Last election my very wealthy, elderly parents volunteered for the NAACP and helped get out the black vote.

I am not black and I am not racist, I just strongly believe that racial equality is the only path to a better world.

See @helenS? I took your advice and did not hurl insults. Progress!
MuguetDeMai · 56-60, F
@jackjjackson Point taken, and I am working on it, it's just that I have personally seen the effects of racism. My parents made sure it was something I never turned a blind eye to, so it is something that gets me really riled up and I do have a strong tendency towards hotheadedness. Not to be racist but, it's the fighting Irish in me, and it does get the better of me sometimes.
@MuguetDeMai Ahhh.. I think I have a diagnosis.

When a normal healthy brain is damaged with brain disease, it sometimes leads to a pathological "liberal shift" or a reduced tendency to logic and reason in political ideology.

From the National Institute of Health:
Differences in political ideology are a major source of human disagreement and conflict. There is increasing evidence that neurobiological mechanisms mediate individual differences in political ideology through effects on a conservative-liberal axis. This review summarizes personality, evolutionary and genetic, cognitive, neuroimaging, and neurological studies of conservatism-liberalism and discusses how they might affect political ideology. What emerges from this highly variable literature is evidence for a normal right-sided "conservative-complex" involving structures sensitive to negativity bias, threat, disgust, and avoidance. This conservative-complex may be damaged with brain disease, sometimes leading to a pathological "liberal shift" or a reduced tendency to conservatism in political ideology.
Sounds to me that you are PART of institutional racism.
While many black men are able to rise above it and become productive members of society, ....
Are you implying that all other black men are unable to deal with day to day difficulties?
And, need your help to survive?
And think that THAT isn't racist?
MuguetDeMai · 56-60, F
@DffrntDrmmr Yay!!! Now that you finally know what your problem is, you g=can get some help for it!! Good luck with that, I hope you get better soon.
@MuguetDeMai You ARE very racist indeed!
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Nice to see you realize there are helpful ways to make your points and there are many points to be made that are well taken. All of us should focus on those. Without being overly bold I’d suggest setting up some scholarships that would remove motivated young people from potentially deadly situations. @MuguetDeMai
MuguetDeMai · 56-60, F
@Budwick They don't need my help, they need the help of society to stop both subtly and not so subtly sending them the message that there is something wrong with them simply because they are black. The original post did just that. All I am saying is stop being part of the problem.
