Trump's defense secretary denies there were orders to have 10K troops ready to deploy on January 6

Former acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller told the House select committee investigating the Capitol Hill insurrection that former President Donald Trump never gave him a formal order to have 10,000 troops ready to be deployed to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to new video of Miller's deposition released by the committee.

And yet Trump had the balls, or delusion, to spew "Law and Order" to his cult members in a speech today. "There is no longer respect for the law and there certainly is no order." Said the con man who took out lines of a speech talking about prosecuting the insurrectionists. They mindlessly applaud because, I'll guess, they just love their "Law and Order." Which is code for black crime and brown immigration. Sort of like how they weep with joy over the mention of "Freedom." But it's only the right kind of freedom and doesn't extend to everyone.
@Ynotisay That some people know the same facts that the rest of us do, and aren’t laughing Trump off the air, because apparently they interpret those facts so differently, is terrifying. 😳
@Ynotisay Yes. The strong dichotomy of a Republican Party which no longer wants a democratic republic has been openly revealed in these few years.

Let's be honest, there could be a video of Pelosi calling Trump demanding police reinforcements, with Trump telling her no way in hell, with a timestamp for the moment he was in the car after his rally, and his base would still believe he offered police and she turned him down.
@OggggO Sad, but accurate.
@OggggO They could have watched it live, and if DJT had said he was baking brownies, they'd all applaud and believe it.

The desire to not think is strong in these lemmings.

But Trump said he did, and his Cult believes every single lie.
@windinhishair That’s the thing, the man known internationally for being an inveterate liar, can say anything and still be believed—without question—by his followers. Pretty much a cult by definition.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard That's exactly why I began calling them a Cult around 2017. His followers were no longer supporters or even fanatics by that point. And I shudder to think how much violence they will commit when Trump is indicted later this year. But if we still have a democracy, and believe no one is above the law, then he must be indicted for his crimes.
The truth is not the truth. "Alternate Facts." They got them. They were poorly educated. Now they are brainwashed.

No doubt it's shocking to everyone, but the conservatives seems to have nothing to say on this point or any other they can't defend with the usual smoke and mirrors.

For all the chest-pounding, yelling, bragging, government expertise, flag waving, weapon brandishing and juvenile catchphrases, they lack the capacity for the most basic of human accomplishments - admitting when they're wrong.
@Graylight YES.
Only Pence called for troops. But that said.........The Defense Secretary along with Pentagon officials were ready NOT to send them for fear if troops did show up, Trump would use that visual on national TV as an excuse to invoke martial law under the Insurrection Act. Then trump could have ordered troops to take over Congress--to stop Pence from doing his job.

@anythingoes477 I wonder if it has occured to anyone which side the Secret Service was actually on during January 6. And what would have happened to Mike Pence if he had gotten in the car with the Secret Service detail.....😷
Nanoose · 61-69, M
It was likely Pence that ordered troops and law enforcement and I am pretty sure they already have proof of that from looking at his phone records. Cheers!
@Nanoose My understanding is that Pence made multiple calls requesting or attempting to order troops and law enforcement to help out at the Capitol on Jan 6, but that he is not on the primary chain of command, so whatever he said didn't immediately produce a response.
Nanoose · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues Yeah I think there will be plenty of stuff on Pence's phone that will prove Trump did nothing to stop the riot and then lied to Americans by claiming he was the hero that stopped it quickly. Cheers!

I love the word "Formal". Dont you? Now in my day I was given some strong suggestions, so that formal instructions were not necessary.😷
justanothername · 51-55, M
I think the troops were all on leave.
@justanothername Some may have been in the group of insurrectionists.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@SomeMichGuy Or just not there at all which is more likely.

@Virgo79 I read it at the original source before you posted it. Just wondering why you posted something without a reason for posting.

And I can spell illiterate. And article. Maybe you need the reader.

@windinhishair it means it wasnt Trumps decision🤷‍♂️
Dont reply to me anymore if you dont comprehend the reply.
I dont like trouble makers.

@Virgo79 It doesn't say anything about Trump and his ability to call out the National Guard in DC, where he has the authority to do so. All it says is that the intellligence prior to January 6 didn't indicate a need to have them there beforehand. However, when it became clear that additional security forces were needed, that WAS Trump's call and he failed miserably. Neither Speaker Pelosi nor Majority Leader Schumer have the authority to call out the National Guard. Trump does. Pence discussed it with General Milley on January 6 when Trump abdicated his responsibility and would not call off his Cult.

I'm sorry you don't like facts.

Wow, that was just excruciatingly depressing

@eli1601
@eli1601 O'Reilly tells us DoD Inspector General Sean O'Donnell issued a report about a meeting on Jan 3 between White House and Sec'y Miller & JCS Gen. Milley. Says Trump gave orders then.

Acting Defense Sec'y Miller, under oath, says something different.

Former acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller told the House select committee investigating the Capitol Hill insurrection that former President Donald Trump never gave him a formal order to have 10,000 troops ready to be deployed to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to new video of Miller’s deposition released by the committee.

“I was never given any direction or order or knew of any plans of that nature,” Miller said in the video.

Miller later said in the video definitively, “There was no direct, there was no order from the President.”

“We obviously had plans for activating more folks, but that was not anything more than contingency planning,” Miller added. “There was no official message traffic or anything of that nature.”

Either O'Donnell or Miller lied. If Miller lied under oath, he should be prosecuted. O'Donnell needs to be sworn in and questioned.
