@Loopysoutherner I'm just trying to understand the role of typical elements of a developed capitalistic "free market" society. So the question is always: in which sense are they useful as a part of the whole thing?

@SW-User It is not just something from the past. You can see countries where unions have been decimated like the USA that are reverting back to Victorian era practices. Some states have brought back indentured service, debtors prison, and some are even trying to roll back child labour laws.
