It is nothing new....
MORE than 40 years ago temperatures in the UK soared to 35.6C making it one of the hottest summers ever recorded.

The spell of hot weather in 1976 lasted from mid-June to the end of August and included 15 consecutive days where a maximum temperature of 32C or more was enjoyed in at least one part of the country.

We had standpumps ,wildfires and the trains kept running and schools stayed open!

Use a fan..I did last night.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales I remember it being hot in '76 but not as hot and prolonged as that, I'll see what the records say for my home city.
@GeniUs it was..the managed forest on the other side of the mountain I’m looking at now,caught fire and burned for weeks.
The sky glowed red every evening and smoke was clearly visible every day.
I actually remember a very brief shower in late August before the newly appointed Minister for Drought brought rain.
Coincidence I’m sure,😀

Warm back then which was unusual but the noticeable trend is that we are definitely getting warmer, longer summers.

@GeniUs this one is exceptional.
I measure Summers by how much cricket I miss...and this one I’ve missed two days because of rain.
My team has only had one day completely washed out.Most unusual in mid-July.
Although I did get soaked in a torrential downpour in Worcester a couple of weeks ago.
