Are Americans willing to keep the nuclear threat high so they can engage Russia in a proxy war in Ukraine?

I know you can't vote on it! So are most people in the US willing to go BOOOM! For NATO expansion?

Flawed premise and conclusion. The facts speak clearly. NATO hasn't been very aggressive and most failed to meet military spending targeta for decades under the treaty... until Russia attacked Ukraine. NATO was a response to the cost of appeasement prior to ww II.

To appease Russia now would be a grave miscalculation. I was not in love with Ukraine's policies before to be sure, but Putin's adventurism cannot be rewarded without being complicit and encouraging Russia. China is also gauging if the World would challenge it.

As a world we SHOULD be addressing the Existential implications of climate change. If we get to 3 C+, we as a world will suffer greatly. We get to 5c avg temp increase. mid latitudes will be uninhabitable by most current species...Good news is other species will evolve... Humes wont be in those areas without significant technology.
@Neoerectus american people see reality as a flawed premise and war as good. Boom. Nobody Can Stop the end!

Most people in the United States understand the way to ensure there is no nuclear war is to have an offensive nuclear capability equal to any power in the world. Assured mutual destruction stops the use of nuclear weapons.
Sadly this is nothing new.

I read a paper by an economist who suggested that the spending on credit boom of the 80s was originally fueled by people thinking the nukes would launch before the VISA bill showed up. When it didn't this just became the new normal.

Russian 🐻 may have a few surprises in store for the US, including a tag team with China 🐉 for a one-two punch.

@Max21 The problem NATO nations have is that if they all melt into the shadows and say "Hey,, this is Ukraines war not ours let them fight it out" then Russia will role Ukraine as soon as they run out of weapons. Putin will then continue onwards through Eastern Europe - Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, East Germany etc.

So its better to stop Russia in Ukraine than to let them continue unchallenged.
