Tidal Energy - Clean, constant and predictable..

The world's most powerful tidal turbine just got a major funding boost.

The United States has a huge amount of untapped Tidal Energy potential. Especially in the northeast, northwest and in Alaska. Scotland is the current world leader in this technology. The US should catch up and take the lead...

And does it affect the ocean ecosystem?
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 test projects for being done on that now. Probably minor compared to the acidification caused from fossil fuels.
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude that is a red flag
I don’t trust it ,
There is too much money involved . It should be tested in a controlled way for 20 years so we know what the effects are,
The safest energy is nuclear fusion but it must be perfected . Windmills and solar are decades away from supplying enough power .
Not to mention the batteries for electric cars are made from minerals mined in Africa by people in unsafe conditions for 2$ a day. Thanks to China 🇨🇳
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 tested for 20 years? This technology is not new. Tidal Mills like windmills were used in colonial days along the Atlantic coast. What is your point? What should we be doing different now? Not 20 years from now?
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude stick with lng and oil until the other systems can supply reliable , economical and safe energy. Then phase it in slowly . It’s common sense
Screwing with the oceans is dangerous.
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
Nuclear and natural gas are what we should be doing now and a long way into the future.@GrinNude
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
Also to note American natural gas is much cleaner than most other countries.
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@southbeachguy that would be true if it wasn't for the methane and the hazardous radioactive waste.
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@southbeachguy methane, another greenhouse gas, has been surging in the last few years. The hydroxyl ions that were purging methane from the atmosphere are now interacting more from the carbon monoxide produced by wildfires. So the level of methane in the atmosphere has been surging. This is what is causing harmful climate effects that weren't expected to happen for decades are happening now worldwide. Floods, droughts and wildfires are geometrically on the rise.

@GrinNude yes weather change is true . But it’s not human caused . It’s caused by the slight tilt in the earths axis
But we’re all going to be dead in 10 years according to your experts anyway .
So why bother
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 My expert's? I believe in the science. And the science says it is human caused. You can ignore the science. But you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring the science.
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude science is to be tested . Climate change was forced in us by politics and scientific facts that don’t support it have been silenced
The earth tilt is also science , but it has been proven.
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 I know that the Earth has a tilt. Did you know that the warming and cooling as a result of the Earth's tilt takes millennia. Not decades. Follow the science. You can ignore the science but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring the science. As we are now finding out all over the world with unprecedented floods, droughts and wildfires. All at once. Has the earth axis tilted that much in the last 10 years?
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude I don’t know , I like yourself and the leftist sheep are not scientists
Remember before ur was climate change it was global warming. After several meetings and seminars were canceled because of snow did they change it to climate change .
That’s not scientific that’s politics
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 This should not be political. This is too important. A habitable world for our children and grandchildren should not be politicized. It should be a priority to both parties. Current and future generations matter.
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude yes it is , but according to Greta and AOC we will be dead in 10 or so years
And if we screw with the ocean the whole ecosystem will be ruined
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 Screw with the ocean? Acidification from fossil fuels is screwing with the ocean. What do you think just? Do nothing?
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude no let the oil industry make it cleaner and perfect the other options
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 I find the scientists do have much more credibility then the fossil fuel industry has.
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude yes they did before they gave into political pressure
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 You think the world's top scientists have given into political pressure? From who?
Driver2 · M
@GrinNude any scientist who questions or does not agree with climate change is discredited and canceled
It’s a fact
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@Driver2 There is an increasingly dire spate of floods, droughts and wildfires simultaneously happening worldwide. That's a fact. The vast majority of the worlds scientists are calling these events a direct result of climate change because it's a fact. Not because they are under duress. I thought you wanted to have a reasonable conversation about this. Obviously, I was wrong.
