Do you think we reap what we sow?

Thiesen, a self proclaimed "Conservative" even though he's writing for WashPo and not Breitbart, makes a pretty good case for warning of how easy it would be for a new Republican Congress to retaliate if Dems create another filibuster "exception" and even cited a lib "colleague", Ruth Marcus, warning of the same thing.

I really wish WashPo, NYT and legitimate "right wing" publishers would scrap their paywalls at times like these, because they seem to be getting their message out only to those who care enough to pay, while the pure partisan propgandizers cherry pick what to distribute to their respective mass audiences.

I'm not saying either Thiesen or Marcus is right or wrong, and maybe the left should hold nothing back and take a possible last stand, but I really think we could all benefit from an open discussion of both the substantive issues and the process involved in dealing with them without commercial paywalls.

I know, sounds like communism, right?

Doing it right this second would have virtually no benefit to it, we don't have the votes to codify abortion rights or implement voting reform. Frankly though, I doubt the downsides are all that serious. The Republicans will also blow it up if they think it benefits them, anyway.

Eliminating the filibuster would be good for America. But it's dependent on putting the boot on the neck of GOP policies, and leadership, that are determined to make this a white, Christian, male-driven nation. Without the filibuster we'd have programs in place that would make our lives better. So the wild card is people. Particularly those who can't be bothered with taking the five minutes to vote.
Definitely agree on the paywall thing. Sadly it is the half assed option of oligarchs refusing to adapt an 18th century business model.

On partisan politics I think most Americans should have seen the warnings when Pat Buchanan was suddenly a pinko.

Since they will get beaten to death with it when power changes hands in the new session next year , they would be wise to trust their guts.

You never do.

The issue isn't paywall.
The issue is democrats cheating when ever winning fairly isn't possible.

Senator McConnel: '100 percent of my focus is stopping this new administration'

@LvChris yes he is .. that is why in my life time people like him will slow down progress. mark
@markansas Being 100% focused on stopping socialism might make sense, I guess if it was 100% of the issues the country was faced with.

He knows he's not, and he knows he's lying.

It is not in the Constitution anyway. Let`s have some all out politics for awhile so the idiots can figure the point of compromise.
