I wish I had some support here.

I want to have the US government create a new system. It will only cost us $5 billion per year. On a yearly basis, it will kill 45 thousand Americans, injure 5.5 million, become the leading cause of death among children, kill animals, and increase global pollution by 20%. Why do I want all of this? So that the government can force us to buy cars, pay for gas, pay for insurance, a driver license, registration, car and road maintenance, and violations, all so that we can get places SLOWER and sit in traffic for 73 hours per year.

Also, the violations I mentioned will be due to laws that are set for literally no reason. You'll have to frequently stop because "it's safer to stay still than to move". You'll have to drive at the same speed as most people, regardless of conditions, just because. If someone in front of you is going ridiculously slow, you're not allowed to pass them, unlike if you were bicycling or walking. You just stay there.

And I repeat: all of this will make you get places SLOWER. Not faster.

We pay so much in so many ways for this and for that we get an increase in death and a decrease in lifetime. It's one of the worst things going on right now and yet I'm supposed to shut up about it while other people complain about being misgendered and THEY get support. 🤷‍♂️

The worst part is that there is a solution that makes all modes of transportation viable, including driving. But nobody cares.

Okay, you've described the problem. Now why don't you tell us all the solution, since you're so smart?
@LordShadowfire Redesign our infrastructure to encourage bicycling, walking, and railroads.
@LordShadowfire This is the problem. It's gotten this far that it effects our lives every single day and yet you have to ask, "What's the solution" like it hasn't been known for decades.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SinlessOnslaught Simple as that, huh? Redesign every city in America to make it more accessible on foot or by bicycle? And the pet politicians of the oil industry would just let it happen?
@LordShadowfire I didn't say there won't be resistance.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SinlessOnslaught Good luck finishing the complete rearrangement of America before it's too late. In the meantime, we'll keep working on improving the software in self-driving cars to avoid accidents.
@LordShadowfire Self-driving cars solve a fraction of the issues.

Again, I get no support on this very, very real issue. I just get people arguing with me because they don't care about the 45 thousand dead Americans.
@LordShadowfire Seriously, you suck. I literally posted about the resistance I'm getting and you're like, "But what about the resistance?" You idolize the government. You act like if they resist something, it shouldn't be done. You also once argued that insurrection is worse than burning down cities with innocent people in them. The government is your daddy.

And then you turn right around and comment on my other posts like we're pals.

You idolize the government.
Liar.
You act like if they resist something, it shouldn't be done.
More lies.
You also once argued that insurrection is worse than burning down cities with innocent people in them.
Still more lies. I never said burning down an entire city was better than insurrection. I said insurrection was worse than burning down buildings.
@LordShadowfire
I said insurrection was worse than burning down buildings.

Yeah. That encompasses everything I just said.

@LordShadowfire There are thousands of cities across the world that aren't terminally reliant on the automobile, especially throughout Europe. The suburban sprawl problem is distinctly American and several cities have already started addressing it through improvements to alternative transit.

@SinlessOnslaught
Yeah. That encompasses everything I just said.
No. You said burning down cities. There has never been a recorded instance of BLM protesters burning down an entire fucking city. You are lying to try and make a point, and now you're doubling down on that lie.

Update: And now you're just ignoring me in the hopes I'll go away. Sorry to disappoint you. You're one of those people who cling to a lie, then double down when called on it. Just like the lie you try to push about the election being rigged.
@LordShadowfire You disappeared for two hours. I was asleep and then at work. Chill out.

BLM literally burns down cities.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SinlessOnslaught Name one city that burned down. I'll wait. It shouldn't be fucking hard if you're not a lying piece of shit.
@LordShadowfire Whatever cities they rioted in.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SinlessOnslaught Liar. No cities were burned down. They are all still standing. Stop telling racist lies.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@SinlessOnslaught I don't love riots, but comparing the BLM riots to the Trump Insurrection is sorta silly because the former occurred as a reaction to crushing systemic racism, whereas the other was an attempt to keep a profascist politician in power despite losing the election. And by the way, a lot of the racism the rioters & protesters were complaining about can be traced right back to the racist zoning codes that cause car-dependent development.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@LordShadowfire Self-driving cars will reduce the cost of driving, which will in turn increase congestion and worsen air pollution. Deaths from collisions will decline, sure, that's only like one problem out of the thirty critical issues that late-stage suburbia causes. Oh, and all that hardware is definitely gonna bump up prices, which is pretty shit if you're on a low income and driving is your only option.

@LordShadowfire You usually don't adopt this kind of defeatist mentality when you're going off on powerful interests. 🤷‍♂️ Some areas like Portland have made huge strides in fighting car-dependency over the years, and the nice thing is that once these changes are implemented, they kinda make their own case for themselves bc the results are so easily visible. I won't ever tell you it's an easy fight, but progress is definitely doable within our lifetimes.

@SinlessOnslaught here in lies the problem. We extract oil in one part of the country/world ship it to another part of the country/world to refine it, then ship it to major distributors who in turn ship, which incur shipping costs which in turn increase the price of fuel and profitability of it for the manufacturer.

It’d be easier if you just move to Europe.
