How long can Congress sit by as the Supreme Court keeps dropping responsibilities on their partisan doorstep?

Probably at least until after the midterms, and then, short of a miracle, they'll likely do whatever they can to make the world worse to get rid of this guy and elect someone else.

I'd love to see Congress work for the Country, but global warming 's not going to do it, and I doubt even Dobbs will in the short term.

We can blame the SC, but they're appointed by Presidents and Congress (McConnell, imo made that shortcut work, even though that's not how it's supposed to work), and they're elected by voters.

I really do think "we" including the drain the swamp, throw a monkey wrench folks, the Jill Stein voters, and the folks who stayed home and didn't vote brought this one ourselves.

@MistyCee Mostly true, but the Supreme Court Justices live in this same world with the same humans prone to gun violence, polluted air, contaminated water, etc. So, it's kind of despairing and gut-wrenching to watch people do things against their own best interests to make a political statement intended to hurt others without taking into account the consequences of their actions and behaviour.

They are scoring political points that won't really amount to much. It's somewhat excusable when "the base" does it. They literally can't help themselves and for the most part don't know any better. It's a bit harder to stomach when you see educated and enlightened people fall into that same trap.
