How close is USA to civil war?

Serious questions:
Is the US coming close to civil war ?
Canadians; should our government already have a contingency plan and what should that look like ?

I think it gets closer every time a liberal or conservative speaks driving a wedge between different types of people. Politicians today counts on strife between whites and everyone else, between young people and old people, between degreed people and blue collar. Between straight and LGBTQ. Democrats, republicans, neither know how to unite people, whenever they speak to a group, there is always the opposing party who is trying to take something away.
