How close is USA to civil war?

Is the US coming close to civil war ?
Canadians; should our government already have a contingency plan and what should that look like ?

I still am wondering what unites the United States.

From the responses, people love their left-leaning and hate the right, or love their right-leaning and hate the left more than they love their country.
