How close is USA to civil war?

Serious questions:
Is the US coming close to civil war ?
Canadians; should our government already have a contingency plan and what should that look like ?

My instant thought was this would be like a Scotland/England thing. The Scots wanted independence, until they realised they would have to pay for a lot of Stuff England paid for now.. But them I remember . Your average Southern Bible belter is nowhere near as smart as your average Scot. So they would probably roam across borders, stealing what they wanted, and that would break down into a war..😷
