Do you think the President remembers saying this?

2006
I do not view abortion as a, um, as choice and a right. I think it’s always a tragedy. And I think that it should be rare and safe, and I think we should be focusing on how to limit the number of abortions. And there ought to be able to have a common ground and consensus as to do that.”

2022

It's a sad day for the country.

Nearly 50 years ago, Roe vs. Wade was decided. Today, the Supreme Court of the United States expressly took away a constitutional right from the American people.

Personal freedoms are on the ballot this fall.

I'd say yes and then point out there is no inconsistency between the two statements, even if you are trying to imply there is.
@ChipmunkErnie first he said he doesn't think it's a constitutional right, now he says it is. The Supreme Court agreed with him that it's not a constitutional right.

@FreeSpirit1 Basically he said he believes it should be available but that we should be looking for alternatives. And people ARE allowed to learn and change.
@ChipmunkErnie basically he said ihe didn't think it's constitutional right and the court agreed with him, the court didn't outlaw abortion they just said it isn't a constitutional right, same as Biden said.

@FreeSpirit1 EXCEPT he's grown and changed his view. People DO grow and change and learn.
@ChipmunkErnie If there is no inconsistency why would he have to change? I think his true opinion is from 2006, the same opinion he has always held and what was released yesterday was written by someone else.

@FreeSpirit1 He said nothing about banning abortions back then, he's just more strongly against banning them now. I'm sorry that upsets you, but it's pretty meaningless. Like I said, people can grow, learn, even -- GASP -- learn and change an opinion.
@ChipmunkErnie I'm not upset but it seems like you are twisting yourself into a pretzel making excuses for the two different statements.
If you think a guy has one opinion that he has held consistently until he in his mid 70's then changes it, you are welcome to believe that, I don't buy it
