Do you think the President remembers saying this?

2006
I do not view abortion as a, um, as choice and a right. I think it’s always a tragedy. And I think that it should be rare and safe, and I think we should be focusing on how to limit the number of abortions. And there ought to be able to have a common ground and consensus as to do that.”

2022

It's a sad day for the country.

Nearly 50 years ago, Roe vs. Wade was decided. Today, the Supreme Court of the United States expressly took away a constitutional right from the American people.

Personal freedoms are on the ballot this fall.

Definitely not. He doesn't remember what he had for breakfast this morning

I'd say yes and then point out there is no inconsistency between the two statements, even if you are trying to imply there is.
@ChipmunkErnie If there is no inconsistency why would he have to change? I think his true opinion is from 2006, the same opinion he has always held and what was released yesterday was written by someone else.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@FreeSpirit1 He said nothing about banning abortions back then, he's just more strongly against banning them now. I'm sorry that upsets you, but it's pretty meaningless. Like I said, people can grow, learn, even -- GASP -- learn and change an opinion.
@ChipmunkErnie I'm not upset but it seems like you are twisting yourself into a pretzel making excuses for the two different statements.
If you think a guy has one opinion that he has held consistently until he in his mid 70's then changes it, you are welcome to believe that, I don't buy it

Same , but different

@SW-User Politicians change with what's popular; they appeal to their voters. It's not really their job to have personal convictions, as reprehensible as we may find that.

@SW-User exactly..

I agree with his statement from 2006.
@Carissimi The present decision is in line with his 2006 thoughts, but whatever. 🤷‍♀️
Carissimi · F
How so? It’s the opposite. @FreeSpirit1
@Carissimi the decision that abortion is not a constitutional right is what he said in 2006, what he is saying now I think someone else wrote for him, I believe he is in favor of abortion being legal and rare and it's not a constitutional right.

He is Catholic. It is complicated.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
Next step will be against homosexuals, like the nazies
@ChipmunkErnie So you do think that's going to happen in the United States, ok.
@Strictmichael75 Other members of the SCOTUS have already stated any cases against gay marriage or gay rights will be voted down
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@stratosranger wait and see

Counting midterms and presidential elections there have been around 13 elections since 2006 when he said this, he has probably flip-flopped on abortion a dozen times since 2006, he is a politician, he says what he thinks people want to hear or what is likely to get him reelected.

Half the time he doesnt even remember who the hell be is. So he sure as hell can't remember all the lies he tells from year to year.
What ever fits his agenda he says, must be sad to not have a true opinion and be able to express it.

The guy is a political shapeshifter always was

Only now he truly has no idea of what he said
The first comment was before Joe knew about the industry for fetal parts.

I don't understand why you dislike Biden, he is Republican-Lite, not a "liberal" as your side keeps labeling him when it suits your narrative that everyone who is not Trump is a raging commie
SW-User
@SW-User …..um , ok

It seems like we are on the same side…let me clarify, if I may.

I am a proponent of universal/human rights.
However, that flies in the face of what the government “allows” us to have.

If we rely on the government, “bill of rights “ codes ,statutes …they are subject to change…because those are temporary privileges..

There are several countries that have more rights than the US does…

***Rights are to be fought for……

Looking at a politician’s career and looking for inconsistencies is easy. Thus this post is low hanging fruit.

***My point of us v them…is the political reality we live in..

As long as people stay distracted the more we will lose to interests that don’t represent us…
@SW-User Bottom line is he sucks. End of story
@SW-User Fascists think that everyone to the Left of Fascism is far-left Socialism.
