I believe there would be less. Those who prey on the innocent and unarmed would have to think twice about committing a violent act, unless they have a death wish for themselves.

On the other hand, every single person who wanted to do harm would have the means at their fingertips.
There seems to be this strange thought that if everyone had a gun then [i]fewer[/i] people would get shot.
Well that's just not how things work. And you can see that reflected in the data. Countries where the population has less access to guns have lower rates of gun related violence and death.
So evidently the idea that those who wish to do harm will think twice about doing it is not bourn out.
