Is It A Good Idea To Allow Threats and Intimidation Of Justices?

Chuck Schumer, threatening Supreme Court justices at an abortion rally in 2020: "I want to tell you Gorsuch. I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won't know what hit you.

18 U.S. Code § 1503 - Influencing or injuring officer or juror generally
(a) Whoever corruptly, or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication, endeavors to influence, intimidate, or impede any grand or petit juror, or officer in or of any court of the United States.....

Remember how allowing smash and grab, car hijacking, release of prisoners tended to embolden criminals?

Do you think maybe it's time to bring the hammer down?

Schumer's words were unfortunate and ill advised, imo, but on the other hand, unlike the guy with the gun, I don't see much suggesting corruption, or threats of force in that picture.

Having said that, we've already had actual attacks on Judges and their families and I really do think something needs to be done to prevent more in the future.

@MistyCee It's hard to balance on that fence!

"Unfortunate and ill advised"...? 🙄 🙄 🙄

If Trump or some other Republican had yelled what Schumer yelled, Democrats would be screaming "incitement to violence!"
@Budwick indeed it is, but I think it's the place to be with T Rex's on one side and velociraptors on the other.
@Thinkerbell I'm sure they would.

And yet, 90% of the time, you complain about the "Trumpists." 🙄 🙄 🙄
@Thinkerbell Lol. I haven't counted, but 90% doesn't seem that high, considering some of the absolutely insane stuff Trumpists come up with.

In this case, though, I think I agree with OP that threatening Judges is not a good idea, and it doesnt matter who does it. Same as shooting up schools.

That's hardly fence-walking then.
More like ignoring most of the absolutely insane stuff the lefties come up with.

You are weak.
@Budwick Because I agreed with you this time?

@MistyCee Because you won't take a stand.

...except against "Trumpists," of course. 😂 😂 😂

Yep... the FBI will never send 50 agents to raid your home at 6 a.m. (after tipping off CNN, of course) for criticizing "Trumpists." 😂 😂 😂
@Budwick Hang on while I climb up to the top of the fence and stand there. Pay attention, please, because you're right, it's pretty precarious.

Slightly more seriously, why is my position weak:

I think that threatening Judges is never a good idea and acknowledge the elements of the crime in the statute you cited.

What's weak about that?

I'll go one further, though, on Trump's practice of not showing "weakness" by acknowledging adverse facts and "strength" by falsely denying them.

I think its disgusting, dishonest, and bordering on sociopathy.

But just because I think Trump was wrong on that doesnt make Schumer's comments right, and it sure as hell doesn't justify violence against public officials.

In fact, I'll even go further and strongly say that even a "good faith" belief that an election was stolen doesn't make trying to hang Mike Pence right.

I'm really getting piled on for only posting what I choose to post and not posting what others want me to here?

That's strange, and ironic because I also just replied on a comment to another post how dumb I think it is to defund the police.

You HAVE no position!
YOU are weak.

I just pointed out that "what you choose to post" is usually 90% anti-"Trumpist."
You seem to admit that the Democrat left is insane only when you get cornered.

But I congratulate you for that.
Most lefties either block or slink away without comment when they get cornered.
You are almost uniquely honest among Democrats.
@Thinkerbell Thanks, I think.

Honestly, pre-Trump, I don't think I posted much about politics at all and certainly didn't consider myself strongly a Democrat as opposed a Republican. There's stuff about both parties I liked and didn't like.

Pre-Trump...? 🤔

That's been about six years now... 😂 😂 😂
@Thinkerbell Now you're picking on my age, too? 🤣

No, just pointing out that six years is a pretty long time, no matter what one's age may be.

It seems that Trump’s existence is the excuse for virtually anything the left does or wants to do. You’re what used to be called a moderate. Not many of us left. Maybe we tilt one way or the other depending on the issue but we view each and every issue seaparetely and on its own merit or lack thereof. Those on both extremes don’t like us. @MistyCee
