Gun words from the rally and the actual facts

TEXAS SEN. TED CRUZ: "Gun bans do not work. Look at Chicago. If they worked, Chicago wouldn’t be the murder hellhole that it has been for far too long.”

THE FACTS: Chicago hasn’t had a ban on handguns for over a decade.

FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: “Classroom doors should be hardened to make them lockable from the inside and closed to intruders from the outside.”

THE FACTS: As commonsensical as that might sound, it could backfire in a horrific way, experts warn.
A lock on the classroom door is one of the most basic and widely recommended school safety measures. But in Uvalde, it kept victims in and police out. Nearly 20 officers stood in a hallway outside of the classrooms school for more than 45 minutes before agents used a master key to open the classroom’s locked door.

CRUZ: “Had Uvalde gotten a grant to upgrade school security, they might have made changes that would have stopped the shooter and killed him there on the ground, before he hurt any of these innocent kids and teachers.”

THE FACTS: This claim overlooks the fact that Uvalde had doubled its school-security budget and spent years upgrading the protections for schoolchildren. None of that stopped the gunman who killed 19 pupils and two teachers.

If you are a Republican politician...............you lie. And it works. Show me one comment made by a Trumper or any Republican that is fact checked and true. Just one. "Mexico will pay for it". "They were just tourists". "The problem is mental issues".............from an administration that vetoed mental health funding twice in a row in Texas. "It was the FBI and Dems that staged that coup".

Every comment above is just more examples of the same thing I'm saying. Whatever it is.......reverse....spew it.......and they will buy it. "The Dems are bad because they are antifacists"...(so they hate fascists-----then the next day "All Dems are fascists"---from the same person. Just spin it...reverse it...... and spew it..........who will EVER look it up?

"we have one main goal and that is to take anything and everything that helps poor families survive"........the dreaded "socialism"..........even though pure unadulterated socialism is exactly what pays their wages and buys the best insurance in the galaxy...all free....for them. But then whose bright enough to make that connection, huh?

Or hearing......... "elect me and I will HELP those that need help from being embarassed by taking handouts when we ALL know they would much rather work to live." In other words the ONLY ones that should get even one food stamp or any kind of free healthcare at all is someone who works at least 40 hours per week............who still won't get it because they're working. And when help for the poor is based entirely on working instead of getting help to live and eat........what about the disabled who can't work? Or our grandparents in old folks homes who need Medicaid? Those people just get screwed as collateral damage so the GOP can "help those folks not be embarrassed."

The GOP is a con job...on every level......every day.

@Montanaman This is a Republican spin meme..........as usual. NO ONE ever said if we pass some COMMON SENSE gun laws EVERYONE will be safe from then on. This is how the NRA owned GOP takes any ideas at all and spins them into bullshit to convince stupid people that this can't be done...because it makes no sense. But if we pass Red Flag laws......and raise the age to buy a gun to 21........and that saves even one child...........isn't that better than now? A trumper will look at this meme and just see the entire idea of we must do something....as a joke. Circulating bullshit like this just kills more children.

@Montanaman The difference, at least for me, is that I know a total ban on guns isn’t practical. But the same people who in some states legislated a total ban on abortions, even for women and girls who were victims of rape and forced incest, or ectopic pregnancy and possible death, are often the same who won’t even consider the kinds of controls and regulations on guns that are mandatory for cars, which aren’t designed to wound or kill. And the memes go both ways. 😉
