The population does not have uniform distribution. A grid system of voting districts would just be a different kind of broken.

@Changeisgonnacome It may surprise you to learn this, but there are people who have put a lot of very hard thought regarding fair voting districts, and none of them use grids, because that's an overly simplistic band-aid that doesn't actually work.
