1. Why wasn’t that entry door secured at that school in Uvalde?

2. Why wasn’t there armed staff (a legal option in Texas) or at the very least, an armed Resource Officer?

EVERY school in the US must have secured, controlled-entry doors and armed good guys.
Period!

That’s how you stop school shootings.
It works every time it has been tried.

Parents: check out your kid’s school:

Entry doors not secured?
Take them out of school!

No armed Resource Officer or Staff?
Take them out of school!

I want to see video or read the minutes of the meeting in which the Uvalde CISD voted NOT to protect it’s students and teachers.

-just my thoughts. 😞💔😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏😇🙏Montana.

How horrible! Life in a war zone. That's how children are supposed to grow up?
Montanaman · M
@helenS it will save lives. It's almost mandatory in High Schools around the Country.
Montanaman · M
@helenS they already are in a war zone. Today proves it.😞💔😢

@Montanaman Are you sure you want your Country to be still known as the Land of the Free and Brave. No other country in the World has shootings like these with such regularity, and as the FBI reports increasing regularity. Do you think there may be another solution other than involving your schools in an arms race?
Montanaman · M
@Zeusdelight Not sure what the answer is tbh. But it's NOT banning / confiscation of all guns. Its just...
Impossible.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Montanaman No country has banned/confiscated all guns. What they have implemented is better gun control.
Montanaman · M
@Zeusdelight what would you consider better gun control in America?
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Montanaman I don't know enough about the individual states to comment on that. I do know that there are great inconsistencies amongst the licencing conditions, the checks before purchase and the age at which you can buy a gun. In addition, the laws concerning storage and carrying guns are inconsistent. Getting consistency would help, especially regarding the gun purchase laws.
Montanaman · M
@Zeusdelight In Every State. All 50, you have to get a background check by Atf/fbi. Minimum.
If you have a clean record, you got yourself a gun. Some states have mandatory waiting periods. (Good idea)18 for shotguns and Rifles. 21 for hand guns. You must check the box that says you're not mentally ill. (What a joke)

Like I said, I don't know what can be done, if anything. Politics will always be a Wall to get anything done. 😞💔
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Montanaman Thanks for your response. Just read an article that talks about the ease of getting around these checks. Something has to be done to bolster this. Here is the link: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2015/12/4/9850572/gun-control-us-japan-switzerland-uk-canada

@Montanaman While more details on this particular shooting will come out in the days ahead, there are reports that the door he entered was secured, and his potential entry was met by two armed guards outside the door, yet he still managed to breach the door and enter the school. He was wearing body armor which may have contributed to that.

@Montanaman
Why wasn’t there armed staff (a legal option in Texas) or at the very least, an armed Resource Officer?
Because it's a fucking school! To even raise this question shows how backwards America is.
helenS · 36-40, F
@MaryJo1996 One might assume that school is somewhere in Eastern Ukraine, in the middle of a war zone.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@helenS It is a war zone. A war driven by gun fethishists and cultists who cannot function without their weapons of mass murder.
helenS · 36-40, F
@windinhishair In fact I always try to understand people, even those I don't agree with.
Montanaman · M
@MaryJo1996 we have to do what's necessary to protect our children. Even the unthinkable. 🙄😳🥺🤗
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Montanaman Like amending the 2nd amendment
Montanaman · M
@Zeusdelight that will never happen.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Montanaman Never is a very long time. It was said. with the same certainty once, that the US would never have a Black man as President.
Montanaman · M
@Zeusdelight or that Roe vs Wade would never be overturned. 🥺It's time for us to have a Madame President. 👍
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
@Montanaman And therein lies the problem with your backwards country; your first thought to protect people is guns because guns are so easily available to any nutcase.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Montanaman True, sometimes it just takes time. Too long already in my view:(
Montanaman · M
@Zeusdelight it's really not that hard. Lock em in a room unti they come up with something that works. Something that will save lives. 🤗
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
@Montanaman How many mass shootings in the UK since very strict gun laws were brought in following the Dunblane Massacre in 1996? Oh yeah, ZERO!

Stop people owning guns. It's simple. I don't expect you people to understand that though.
