I’m not a gun owner. My son is My son a some guns. I have no interest. But is not the guns. It people. We must take better care of people so they don’t harm others.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Jonjdw Take better care of people??? How to, if you have 150,000,000 guns (or whatever) in the country??
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Jonjdw in the aftermath of 9/11, coherently with your thought, I bet you were complaining that it wasn't foundamentalism the issue, but people that should've been taken better care of, too?
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@Elessar 9/11 has nothing to do with gun control 911 was a terroristic assault from another country.

We need to take better care of people their mental problems.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@helenS people and their mental issues.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@helenS There are about 350,000,000 guns in the US, more than for every person in the nation, regardless of age. And since many people don't have guns, the people who do have multiple weapons.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@Jonjdw I am SICK OF THIS SHIT. IF IT IS THE PEOPLE then NO people should have access to guns.

Not even the police.

i have "mental issues". I dont own guns and i dont think about killling people ...especially kids. That is called evil. When you give evil the means to do their evil easily...well, then...they do evil easily.

Mental issues are not the problem.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Jonjdw "It's a different problem, please don't compare" is the ultimate pathetic way to avoid getting your fragile point challenged. I could perfectly apply your reasoning to 9/11 and say that the assaulters were just deranged, had we took better care of their mental status they wouldn't have done what they did.

Terrorism is terrorism, whether foreign or domestic.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@JaggedLittlePill many of these killers have had mental issues.

There’s also a lot of hate in the United States.

Hate and mental issues are the problem not everybody with mental issues shoots others.

I did not say that people with mental issues are the only ones that shoot others.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@Elessar they were not deranged they have beliefs they hate the way Americans live.
helenS · 36-40, F
@windinhishair
There are about 350,000,000 guns
... so my guesstimate of 150,000,000 was an understatement 😐
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Jonjdw Just like the second to mass shooter of a couple of weeks ago firmly believed in Tucker's replacement theory.

It's "mental issues" conveniently when you don't want to admit that your own are no better than the Islamists. Reality is, they're the same, only thing that changes is the propaganda.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@helenS When it comes to guns in the US, take a wild guess way higher than you could ever imagine, and it will still be more.
helenS · 36-40, F
@windinhishair It's so horrible and sad. Thank you for posting. I'm afraid I'll have to leave this thread because it almost makes me cry. 😢
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@helenS You are not the only one. But I am past the almost stage. I cry for the nation.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@Elessar I’m sure he has issues. Mental issues anger issues.

We don’t know yet how he was raised. Where did he learn all of this hate where did he get it from.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Jonjdw You're sure because you don't want to admit the truth that you yourself know. Keep lying to yourself as much as you want, it won't change things.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@Jonjdw mental issues do not cause people to kill.

Mental issues are not the problem. stop talking about mental issues. Talk about guns.

Talk about a society and media that perpetuate the obsession with guns.

Talk about the easy access to guns and the refusal to make that access more regulated.

Think about the paranoia and the implications behind Republican politicians pushing the second amendment and misinterpreting its words purposely.

These ARE the problems.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@Elessar Power by lying to myself. You trying to say I have mental issues. You army aren’t gonna change anything.

No one‘s gonna change anything we are down a sad path. It’s only going to get worse and taking away peoples guns will not stop it. people will make their own guns. They will be sold underground on the black market and they won’t have serial numbers or anything. Away then to trace them.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@JaggedLittlePill it’s not only mental problems but it definitely is part of it. Yes it’s propaganda in the media spreading hate. You add hate and paranoia to people who are mentally disturbed you’re gonna have problems.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Jonjdw If only there weren't first world countries outside of the U.S. where decent gun regulation drastically cut these events to minuscole numbers I might even try to agree.

Australia comes to mind

Heck, even here in the original country of mafia, in spite of black markets and corruption, we have less than 1/100 the shooting "incidents" per year than the U.S.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Elessar Gun control works, as has been demonstrated by you and others. How many people have to die before the US does something?
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@Elessar just because something works in one country doesn’t mean it won’t work in another.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Jonjdw It works in literally all the countries, minus the one where people can buy assault rifles at the supermarket. Wonder why.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Elessar Who can tell?
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@Elessar The USA does have gun laws they do not sell guns to people with criminal records. And people with mental problems

Not sure if that changes though from state to state. Like I said I don’t have guns but my son has to have a background check every time he buys a gun.
