Herschel Walker: Whats the difference between the left and the right today?

A decade or two ago, I'd never have dreamed that a candidate proclaiming his own Dissassociative Identity Disorder diagnosis would be acceptable to either party.

And yet now, not only Trump, but also McConnell and Graham are fine with voting in, what, tbh, is, as genuine a "nut case" as you can imagine, because, you know, he's anti-Biden.

Personally, I'll give you, if Jeffrey Dahmer ran against Trump, I'd be tempted, but damn, are we not in a screwed up place?

2 decades ago legislatord from the left and right often COLABORATED with one another for the good of the nation.
bi partisanship was not "sleeping with the enemy"
go back another decade? and it was common.
remeber the ozone hole? and how we Immediately acted on an aexistential threat, it worked!
if that happned to day, we would have fact denial
theere is no ozone hole,, or maybe we NEED an ozone hole
what will banning cfcs do to the economy ( wealth of my supporters)

I think we are well and truely scroon ( past tense of screw)
and must over haul the system. losing political parties, private funding and professional lobbying
@SatyrService I'm not sure how to lose political parties, private funding and professional lobbying or even that it would solve the problems of an amoral and ignorant electorate, but I'm willing to entertain ideas about how to avoid a hot civil war.
@MistyCee

where i lve we have a referendum process. we can aler our own laws..
I am working on one "impossible" idea
all elected officials and political appointees,
MUST when publicly speaking, Tell The Truth!
how would that work?
we have laws and usages for the crime of pergury.
let's apply those, since they already exist complete with methods to orove he lie, and punishment in place
@SatyrService I like the idea, but the real problem, imo, is the voters who wish they could lie with impunity and get away with it.

Politicians on both sides, as well as others would have issues with criminalizing political speech, but beyond the problems (and downsides) with implementing it, I don't see it as a solution to the problem.

@MistyCee i like the idea.. not to criminalize political speech, just hold politicinas accountable when they knowingly tell a lie
I just read that Bill Barr, completely informed the last president, that he had lost, there was NO fraud etc. Yet whilst still sitting? he told that Lie over and over.
I dont think the excuse of "political speech" should give you the license to deceive

@Dshhh 🤣 completely informed. As opposed to incompletely informed? 🤣
@Dshhh The thing is, it's not easy to define politicians, political speech, etc.

Barr was, arguably at least (given his unified executive theory), not a politician, but a public servant, which is kind of a whole different can of worms, and he's squirming now trying to defend his alleged breach of public duty.

I'd love to see honesty being seen as a virtue, just as I would respect for others, but 74 million Americans seem to disagree with that idea.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee squirming? 🤣
@eli1601 Yeah, I'd say Barr is squirming these days. I'm not a fan of his, but he's painted himself into a real villain for everyone, and even though I dont agree with his principles or values, I respect that he has them.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@MistyCee It's more like you think he should be squirming. By the way. He still says he would vote for Trump over any dim.
Dshhh · M
@MistyCee he sure has had a lot to say about Mr T
@Dshhh Hence my squirming "comment". I actually do get Bill Barr's views better then most, having had some professors who pretty much held similar religious views.

Both men understood the ideas of morality and ethics, even though I didn't agree with them.
Dshhh · M
@MistyCee at least they HAVE ethics..'
