I was just accused of playing partisan politics in my last post. Really? There's no such thing these days. We can barely coexist!

Who can “unite” with 70 - 80 million people in the US who are no longer interested in America being a democracy or a democratically governed constitutional republic? The Republicans want an authoritarian theocracy through sheer force of will and the raw exertion of power. They are going to try and force their values on everyone with whom they don’t agree.

It’s not that there’s no common ground anymore. There are no common facts anymore in the US. That’s one of the things in Timothy Snyder’s book on Tyranny. It’s a necessary precursor for bringing in fascism or authoritarianism. Nothing is true anymore.

If there are no common facts anymore then you can’t have good faith arguments, honest debates, and open discussions. I absolutely love to have good faith arguments and enjoy finding I'm wrong, but I will not be told I'm wrong by someone quoting right-wing conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson.

I never thought in my lifetime I would see what’s happening in the US. There are tens of millions of people who essentially want to overthrow the government and replace it with an authoritarian theocracy. The US is about to lose its democracy.

Who knew that one day, we'd be called white supremacists and authoritarians for quoting our founding fathers.... 🤔

@wildbill83 those are good. I think it’s the “Jews will not replace us” and “America First” (an American Nazi slogan pre-WWII) are the kind that get you guys in trouble.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@JonLosAngeles66 So you think Teddy Roosevelt was a Nazi? literally the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard on SW...

@wildbill83 he didn’t say either of those things I just posted as to why many conservatives are lumped in with White Supremacists. Their party is littered with this trash and don’t say anything. They seem to pander to the lowest common denominator

Teddy Roosevelt (who I’m related to btw) was a social justice warrior and conservationist.

@JonLosAngeles66 and a Republican nationalist... who put America first....

So, by the democrat definition... a nazi...

and SJW is a recent made up term for soyboys that wear vagina hats...
@wildbill83 I was specifically referring to the American Nazi Party that used that exact slogan “America First” and the last President who chose to use as a foundation of his campaign knowing and not caring about its sinister racist history.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@JonLosAngeles66 So your reasoning is that just because the nazi's used the slogan "America first", that anyone else who puts America first is a nazi by association?

Hitler drank water, does that make everyone who drinks water a nazi too?

Obama used the slogan "Forward", as did Nazi Germany, does that make Obama a nazi?

@JonLosAngeles66 "America First" actually originated around 1880 (40 years before Nazi party), It didn't become a national catchphrase until Woodrow Wilson used it in 1915 (again, before Nazi party). It was also used by Charles Lindbergh, who led the "America First Committee", a group that wanted US to maintain neutrality and stay out of WW2

Just because it was misappropriated by the KKK and neo-nazis doesn't make it a white supremacist term...

Try learning some history before you accuse others of ignorance...
@wildbill83 ok I’ll dumb this down so you don’t get hung up on anything:

If you had a friend named Bob. And Bob used the “N” word, ascribed to antisemitic conspiracy theories, participated in sedition against the government, etc and you never said anything about it. You just kept saying Bob’s a good dude. At some point people are going to start to say “Bill seems to support Bob on all this crazy racist shit. He never says he’s wrong. is he a racist?” Human nature.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@JonLosAngeles66 more often than not, those who base every argument on discrediting people by calling them white supremacists, racists, etc. are more prejudiced than those they accuse...

democrats have been doing it to their voter base for decades, and only now are some beginning to realize it...

@wildbill83 and point out the racism of guys like Johnson who oddly also passed sweeping racial change. Or Wilson who you mentioned who was a White Supremacist. Your party at the moment chooses to turn a blind eye to any of of it while pandering to the white supremacists. You haven’t denied any of it.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@JonLosAngeles66 Woodrow Wilson and LBJ were both democrats in case you failed history...

Lincoln was a republican; so was MLK jr. according to his niece...

but republicans are the racist ones... 🤣
@wildbill83 again, my point is Democrats point out the flaws and bad things about people in their party. Currently the GOP turns a blind eye to it all.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@JonLosAngeles66 how are we turning a blind eye to it?

Were it up to me; biden, harris, pelosi, schumer, all these fake news journalists, etc. would be charged for treason, rounded up, and executed...

how does that make me a racist? 🤔
@wildbill83 discussion over.
