Something that has really come to annoy me about the political frenzy…

When people claim "both sides do it".
Former Senator Al Franken, (Minnesota-D) after helping with passages of all kinds of legislation that benefitted women, still agreed to step down when accused of sexual misconduct from incidents in his past. The GOP piled on, of course, but the Democrats didn’t attempt to shield or protect him and also encouraged him to resign.

Consider how often the "party of family values" has shielded their politicians accused of outright sexual assault and even sex trafficking. It’s not even comparable. 19 accusers and his own bragging about being a predator hasn’t lessened the fervor of Donald Trump’s supporters—not even the female ones. Guess they’re okay with being “grabbed by the p*ssy". 😞

Trump-supporting Republicans will nearly always ignore any kind of depravity among MAGA politicians. The only reason they turned against Madison Cawthorn is because of his comments about colleagues engaging in drug use and sex orgies. The numerous sexual abuse allegations against him didn't seem to matter to anyone in the party of Trump.

"Both sides" is a veiled confession. "They do it too!". Uh....no. "Both sides" don't conspire to keep people from voting, forcing women to be second class people or to shove religion down everyone's throats.

Republican party discipline would do Stalin proud.

This is absolutely spot on and applies to a whole host of issues beyond this one. I have little time for those who trendily and in a faux intellectual fashion complain that both parties are the same. The Democratic Party is far from perfect. In a system that can only produce two parties it covers a far wider range of beliefs than the GOP, which is essentially a white/Christian/nationalist party at this stage. Given that, disappointing various wings of the party is going to be inevitable when push comes to shove as to policy choices.

But anyone claiming the parties are the same is revealing their own privilege: those who feel the weight of governmental decisions: be they the woman seeking an abortion, those that rely on government assistance to make ends meet, the individual seeking redress for police brutality, the migrant, etc …feels the brunt of the policy differences between a conservative and a moderate federal administration.

Ironically, the side that proclaims to be all about family values, conservative, and being 'moral' also shields pedophilic priests and pastors

Instead of voting for who is the best and brightest we are plumbing the depths of moral depravity...truly disgusting 🤮
This is disgustingly true…haven’t you seen those white trashy women wear tshirts saying grab my pussy at the MAGA rallies? 🤢

I think the Democrats are too docile for these rowdy goons.
@bijouxbroussard
There ya go…
@bijouxbroussard Not sure if you’ve seen these…🤢

@Vivaci I love the cartoon next to “Chicken for McNuggets”. That’s pitiful beyond words. And of course the irony is, Trump, disgusting as he is, wouldn’t find any of those women appealing.
You gotta admit, they're an attractive bunch.
I legit believe most Conservatives would vote to legalize rape of women and children if they could.
@BohemianBabe Unfortunately, you’re probably spot on.

do you mean like bill clinton and ted kennedy?
Mak03 · F
@bijouxbroussard how many times did hillary say it was nothing more than a right wing conspiracy clinton was impeached for lying under oath not for the relationship what he lied about was the relationship but they tried to shield him and failed
@Mak03 His wife ? So they didn’t shield him. And it really was a conspiracy, because as stupid as it was it had nothing to do with his presidency. When Clinton left the White House the country was financially better off.
Mak03 · F
@bijouxbroussard and now you are saying some women from long ago effected the presidency?
tindrummer · M
still mad at Al for not toughing it out
@tindrummer Without any support he was in an untenable position.

Context is everything though. When referring to social values I agree it's hypocritical. Yet when it comes to greed I really don't see the difference between the two parties. Both in my opinion are the same regarding greed. 😞

I don't see either party not accepting donations from the corporate world. Nor even putting limits on donations. The sky is the limit.

I am not familiar with this situation but my opinion is that Democrats operate differently than Republics a little bit on the face of things.

Both parties are dirty and lie so that's what people mean when they say that both parties do it but..
Republics know how to be bullies and stay the course, never back down, never admit a lie, change what you state you believe in when it suits you and close ranks when necessary to hold power.
Democrats want to appear opposite of Republicans so they do all of that same stuff but if it goes too public they try to save face.
@REMsleep January 6, 2021 and the GOP’s reaction to it was a pretty extreme example of "closing ranks to hold power".

@bijouxbroussard One of the most extreme examples I ever saw.

Indeed. A certain yellow duck has been doing it recently here on SW, and dismissing everyone who disagrees as a "wingnut" not worthy of further discourse. He does not realize how that looks.
