DIABLISS All true, but... When's the last time you took a local election seriously? Not just a party line exercise, but really understood the background, histories, qualifications and ambitions of the candidates? If you do, great; most of us never take that kind of time. Those local politicians become regional politicians, and many of them go on to sit over us in the seats of Congress. They become governors and Presidential aides and influencers. And if we treat it like a punchline, a punchline it will be.
Government is an empty, useless machine kept forever at a standstill unless fueled by the very people it serves. We vote and our votes coalesce into collective choice. Every single character we complain about got to his or her spot through US voters. Nothing salacious, nothing secret. They pandered, we listened.
That's what I mean when I say the failure of government is on the people. The people
are government; everything else is just machinery.
