@Oster1 yeah but a lot of dealers get their product from places far away

@Oster1 If people really believed that, Walmart would go out of business.

@Graylight It's a theory, a start. 35 years ago, people were not dependent on Walmart. Up to about 5 years ago, I could buy from local hardware and lumber yards, cheaper than Lowes or Home Depot.

These businesses are being run out. Look what the C19 lockdowns did. The Big Boxes, made record profits. Small business closed.

@Oster1 Funny story from 50 years ago. I grew up on a farm/ranch outside a small town of about 1000 people. Dad bought an old bow saw at an auction sale but the blade was broken. A few weeks later he was in the large city to the north. No one had that kind of saw blade. A few weeks after that he was in the large city to the south. No one there had that kind of saw blade. A few months later he was in a medium sized city to the west. No one there sold those kind of saw blades. A year or so later he was in the local hardware store buying some nails and laughing mentioned to the store owner his inability to find the saw blade. The owner opened a cabinet full of those kind of saw blades and asked Dad what size he needed.

@Oster1 Because they can sell more cheaply. Part of that is being able to buy in bulk. More of that is the ability to contract for inferior, cheaply made products that consumers have simply accepted as replaceable after a few years.

If you want well crafted, home-soil produced products, you are going to pay for them. And the truth is, we're a nation of McDonald's - we'll gladly accept sh*t over quality if it can be packaged as a value.
