There were 134,102 new Covid cases yesterday in the US. 354 deaths. The trend is rising and expected to rise; it's currently at 3x the level it was 2 years ago in 2020. The populations most affected no longer move along age and medical lines but among vaccinated and unvaccinated, the result being a much higher instance of Covid in red states. Further, impactful research indicates sever cognitive issues for nearly half of those suffering a serious bout of Covid (https://www.mayoclinic.org/coronavirus-covid-19/map).
But hey, humans never were really that big on prevention. We're much more the 'turkey staring at the rain with an open gullet' kind of species.
