I really would like to debate a conservative GOP as to what you guys would like to see happen in our country.

for starters:

- secure the southern border. if someone wants to immigrate, they must follow the rules.
- keep taxes low, including corporate taxes.
- strive for energy independence.
- males have penises, females don't. no exceptions. no need to be teaching sexual orientation to kids in K - 3. parents can do that.
- term limits for congress.
@boudinMan See, this is what we mean when we say Republicans aren't concerned about policy.

The southern border is already secure. Saying we need to "secure the border" is just a scare-tactic to make people think that we're under attack by hordes of criminals. This is why neither party is much different when it comes to immigration.

We all want to keep taxes low for the working-class. The Republicans actually want tax cuts for the rich, but y'all can't say that because it sounds bad.

If Republicans wanted energy independence, they'd support policies to transition to green energy. This is why they say "energy independence" but offer no actual policies.

Aside from the "no exceptions" part being objectively wrong, transphobia isn't a policy.

Term limits for congress is the only actual policy you listed.

@BohemianBoo your contention that the border is secure is beyond laughable.
when you say republicans want tax cuts for the rich, you intentionally obscure the issue. we want tax cuts for all. and, of course taxation is actual policy. we were energy independent under trump... enough said. now rant all you want, that's my position, as well as many other republicans.

oh, and i assure you, i'm not scared of or fear any trans person, which is what you implied.
@boudinMan Do you have any evidence that the border is less secure now than it was under Trump? Or even that it's less secure under Democrats than Republicans?

Sure, but tax cuts for everyone is really just a sneaky way to cut taxes for the rich. When Republicans cut taxes, most of what they cut affects the rich. It doesn't help the workers that much, since welfare programs end up being cut due to lack of funds.

Not only were we not energy independent under Trump, but we're closer to being energy independent now than we were under Trump

Yes, you are. There is no reason to be against trans rights other than "this thing I don't understand is scary."

@BohemianBoo that's your opinion, which doesn't count for much in my book. if someone wants to dress as the opposite sex, go for it. they've always had the right to do that... it's no different today than it was before. but, i don't have to accept as normal calling someone who is obviously a male a female. and i don't have to accept as normal biological males competing against females in sports. and i don't want my tax dollars being spent on teaching young kids that they can just choose their gender. i contend that you are born as either male or female.

@boudinMan
beyond laughable
Good way to start open, respectful dialogue.
we want tax cuts for all
You all want everyone to have the same things,...except that's not how need works. An uneven playing field with newly mowed grass is still uneven.
we were energy independent under trump.
The US has never been energy independent by any measure. This is really one of the weakest myths that flies around. And until you start looking at other sources, dependence is a foregone conclusion.
that's your opinion, which doesn't count for much in my book
Again, very genteel way to end a healthy, robust discussion.

What you need more than anything is to first understand what important issues really are and the actual, reality-driven facts behind them. Then you can open your mouth with more than an uniformed opinion.
