”Liberals are indoctrinated!”

Why is any information that contradicts the conservative world view automatically called “liberal indoctrination through education”?

The world of academics has always been in flux and in conflict with the more conservative and established ways of understanding reality. We keep learning new things from heliocentricity to sexuality to evolution to… Just because a conservative doesn’t agree with new information doesn’t mean something nefarious is at work. Academics are always looking for more and better information, whereas conservatism is deeply rooted in tradition.

Altering education due to perceived indoctrination is what’s going to lead to actual indoctrination. If conservatives want education to be more “patriotic”, then they’re pro-indoctrination. They just want to make sure their indoctrination justifies and validates the way they believe and think.

There is no nuance in conversation nowadays. As soon as you share a single opinion with someone, they automatically slot you into a preconceived category - they’ll assume they know everything about you, and are now free to judge you accordingly.

It’s hard to find people willing to have open, honest conversation without feeling the need to stick labels on you.

@SW-User But - and this a a really fun game - next time you find yourself talking to one of these people (my family came pre-installed with one), ask them to define in clear language any one of those terms. The linguistic gymnastics are dizzying.
