”Liberals are indoctrinated!”

Why is any information that contradicts the conservative world view automatically called “liberal indoctrination through education”?

The world of academics has always been in flux and in conflict with the more conservative and established ways of understanding reality. We keep learning new things from heliocentricity to sexuality to evolution to… Just because a conservative doesn’t agree with new information doesn’t mean something nefarious is at work. Academics are always looking for more and better information, whereas conservatism is deeply rooted in tradition.

Altering education due to perceived indoctrination is what’s going to lead to actual indoctrination. If conservatives want education to be more “patriotic”, then they’re pro-indoctrination. They just want to make sure their indoctrination justifies and validates the way they believe and think.

Encouraging critical thought, development of the learning process and the exploration of ideas, concepts and known works are the hallmarks of higher education. Conservatives don't know that because they lack it. No judgment there, but to blindly condemn that which one doesn't understand is just willful ignorance.

Teaching only that part of history you find palatable. Instituting mandatory government fealty every morning. Teaching children that belonging to any social or familial group not ordained by the party is intolerable. Allowing only those books, materials and topics deemed unsuitable by the party: That's indoctrination.
