Do you know who Marsha Blackburn is?

She’s a TN Republican senator = a GQP MAGA right-wing conspiracy theorist.

Today she said that Griswold v Connecticut, the Supreme Court case that gave MARRIED women the right to use birth control, was constitutionally unsound. Here we go again!!

They’ve already said in TN if a woman is raped and has an abortion, the family members of the rapist can sue the victim for $10,000. Insane.

Republicans are declaring war on women! Hell, it's a war on everyone who isn’t a cis, white male. Everyone else is under fire.

What were her reasons for that statement? She may be right legally. I don't know.

@hippyjoe1955 There is no moral basis for being against birth control except to control people.

She was asked what she thought about Griswold v Connecticut
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Randi1125 and if you read the constitution your conclusion would be? The court read in to the constitution what is not plainly written.

🤔 Is that English? Can you rephrase that?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Randi1125 There are two ways to interpret a document. you can read it and interpret it exactly as written or you can infer from the document that this or that should be included. The more you stray from the exact wording the more you read in. The more you read in the more likely you are to miss the intent of the original. I notice that the ruling by the supreme court was not unanimous.

@hippyjoe1955 There's nothing to interpret, using birth control is a human right. When two people marry, it is best left up to them to decide, not some laws regarding the use of birth control. If they don't want children but love each other, that's not up to people like Marsha Blackburn.

Sorry, Joe, I don’t understand what you’re asking. Until 1965 there were laws banning married women from legally using birth control. Single women didn’t get the same rights until 1972.
Hence, Griswold v Connecticut.

@SatanBurger

I'm as confused as you.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Randi1125 Neither right is expressly written in the constitution. Therefore the ruling was 'reading in'.
