@Gusman Parking Fees are Local Government not State or Federal. Money inflows to the States apart from Federally allocated GST revenues are Stamp Duty, Land Tax and Payroll Tax. Other fees and charges relate to services being received. Emergency Services Levies, Motor Registration etc etc.

I think Local Governments should have more say and be more accountable and get rid of the State governments. Every Premier thinks they run the show...

Over governed we are....
Even the upper houses of governments...are just unrepresentative swill as Keating once said.

The yearly wages bill alone for 226 members of the federal Parliament is upwards of $80 million.

@Gusman Exactly. New Zealand does well with a unicameral parliament. No need for an upper house. It also got rid of provincial governments in 1876. Local governments are more active and have a greater say.
