Has anyone been charged or convicted of the crime of insurrection as yet? It seems impossible for there to have been an insurrection with no insurrectionists.

@redredred There is no crime of insurrection, though that doesn't mean insurrection didn't occur. There is no crime called war, but wars certainly occur. People have been charged with seditious conspiracy and will likely be convicted.
@redredred Sounds kind of like asking if there was a killing when someone was charged with murder to me.

@MistyCee insurrection is an actual crime distinct from rioting, disturbing the peace or trespass. If no one is actually charged with the actual crime of insurrection, then it’s hard to see how there could have been an insurrection. They’ve had a year to bring charges.

@windinhishair But that Civil War-era charge is rarely ever used, because it's hard to prove and harder to win.
