In today's climate ? yes. Most , but not all are corrupt or are easily corrupted. A political career is the opportunity to lie, cheat, and steal for personal gain and wealth.

@TexChik Some of them making so much money they don’t even want to retire in their 70’s with all their benefits, look at Pelosi, Feinstein, and many others.

@cherokeepatti they are not concerned with the law, insider trading is just a perk
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik not only insider trading but making laws for projects where family can profit off the businesses connected to it and other such crap, taking payoffs to pass certain laws to benefit certain groups. They are connected to mobsters and a big part of the problems in their home states.

@TexChik had a governor who started pushing for private prisons being built in Oklahoma. More and more people were getting sent up the river and he had a blood type analyst that was often called to testify in court. I heard later that he had a silent partner heavily invested in private prisons. The way the prisons were being run it seemed they wanted to stress the prisoners out to get them more time or to serve their entire sentence and not get probation and early release even for the lesser crimes. When DNA testing became available the indigent defense lawyers had their work cut out for them. There were at least two men sent to prison for rapes they didn’t commit and one had served a long time and got released thanks to the work of the indigent defense lawyers. Anyway it got a lot of national publicity and eventually the two freezers that held much of the evidence lost “power” and the evidence in them was destroyed. This while the governor was still in power. That blood type expert was also under fire for her shoddy work, she was right up the governor’s butt. She is dead now. And the governor’s son was about to go off to college and his mother was selling their golden retriever’s puppies and telling the news it was to help with the boy’s college fund. Not long after that someone dug around and found out that a wealthy person had donated $100,000 to the boy’s college funds. This before the puppy thing. And the puppies died before they could be sold. I thought that whole thing was really revealing.

@cherokeepatti Nope its how they are getting their money. Biden's son already alluded to that.
