@dale74 Donald Trump wanted to silence the media. A free press is important in any democracy. As to social media, in a free market they can set their own terms of service. That's literally capitalism.
@dale74 define what's not true. You lot think the entire mainstream media is lying, but InfoWars (which has been fact checked as lying) is a legitimate news source according to you.
@dale74 I can see both sides of that, but the fact of the matter is, we've got Fox News reporting from the right, and we've got networks like CNN and MSNBC reporting from what I would call moderate left positions. Then you've got your extreme viewpoints on both sides. Alex Jones and similar lunatics for the far right, and things like Daily Kos, Yahoo, and so forth for the left.
It's not the fault of the media you don't do your homework and consider multiple sources. -Shadowfire
@basilfawlty89 that Trump colluded with Russia totally been disproven. Did Hunter biden's laptop is not true which is and is currently being investigated by the FBI. The news media only puts out half the story and they will encourage any story that supports who they really want. The news media 40 years ago was hard working investigative reporting the news media today is upper elites only putting forward the narrative they want presented. People like Walter Cronkite don't exist anymore take people like Anderson Cooper he's one of the wealthiest vanderbilts in history he is an upper elitist they don't hire true journalism anymore they put spokespeople up there and all they're going to do is put forward a narrative they want you to believe.
@dale74 and I can say the same for "alternative" news sources. Alex Jones literally claimed school shootings are a hoax, soy feminises you and vaccines don't work. So far all those three statements were verified by fact checkers and scientists to be bullshit.
@basilfawlty89 well if you're talking about fact checkers you might want to see who you're thinking about is fact checkers because it came out when questioning about fact checkers by several different organizations the organizations said fact checkers are technically just opinions and that's now in the court record
@basilfawlty89 CNN New York times Facebook Washington Post we're all questioned about fact checkers and they all admitted fact checkers are nothing more than opinions
@LordShadowfire for some reason I don't think you're worth my time since you don't care to ever find out the truth for yourself all you need to do is a simple Google search
@dale74 Going back to your original comment, the government is forcing no one to get vaccinated for covid-19, whether they should or not. And there is obviously no censorship, otherwise the anti-vax nonsense would not be as pervasive as it is. Companies can decide what speech is allowed on their platforms, particularly if they feel it is the digital equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater. None of that violates the 1st amendment.
@dale74 no. You don't get to do that. You made the claim, the burden of truth is upon you. If you back out, it just means you neither have proof nor evidence.
@basilfawlty89 Facebook admits the truth: ‘Fact checks’ are really just (lefty) opinion
Facebook finally admitted the truth: The “fact checks” that social media use to police what Americans read and watch are just “opinion.”
That’s thanks to a lawsuit brought by celebrated journalist John Stossel, which has exposed the left’s supposed battle against “misinformation” as a farce.
