Both expressions are completely skewed

From a European point of view, the phrase "I love my country" from the mouth of a US American is just as disgusting as the phrase "Allahu akba" from the mouth of a Muslim.

Yeah because muslims laid down their lives and spent their treasure helping Europe get over its bad ideas.

@ragnalikessnow You were not aware that Americans and Canadians fought long and hard to liberate Europe from the bad ideas that Europe created? Ever heard of fascism? How about Nazis. They were created in Europe by European trash. We North Americans had to take out your trash.

@hippyjoe1955 There is hardly a European who is not aware of the history of Europe. and it is very likely that there were also Muslims when Europe was liberated.
I don't understand what that has to do with the self-image of putting oneself above others.

@ragnalikessnow If you don't have pride in your identity you will never take a stand for what you believe in. When I was just out of high school I joined the Canadian Armed Forces (Air Element) I served for a number of years before retiring. I was proud of my Canadian warrior history. Two uncles in first wave D Day. Father in law highly decorated officer at Ortona. I knew guys who wouldn't back down in Korea. They were reduced to throwing rocks at sounds in the night but they fought on and kept their position when everyone else retreated before the Chinese onslaught. I was proud of their tenacity in the face of overwhelming odds. However as of late Canada is not a place to be proud of. The nation has become very much like the enemy we fought as we went through Holland. If you asked me if I would serve again I would say no. Canada can fall apart and I could not care less.
