There once was a time when talk like this was on Saturday night live, and we would all get a good laugh. Now idiots actually believe this crap and SNL is no longer funny.

carpediem · 61-69, M
What if a store had security guards? So a mob from the southside comes up to the Gold Coast and storms a high end store. How do they stop them? Use a weapon? What if one or more crooks get shot during the act? That's ok?

No. It would be another couple days of riots, looting, burning and mayhem. The security guard would be arrested and tried in the media. His/her life would be over.

The mayor is a complete imbecile. Retailers are struggling because no one wants to go downtown to leisurely browse and shop Michigan Ave any more. It's too dangerous. Hiring private security won't solve that. Police work, locking up criminals, appropriate bail and prosecutions will. But that doesn't happen.
SW-User
@carpediem Security guards are systemic racism and homophobia and all that noise and bullshit.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@SW-User Exactly. Yet this airhead is whining that retailers need to hire and pay for security to protect their goods. Who wants to do business in a place like that?
PatKirby · M
@carpediem Yep, and if she keeps it up these businesses may actually leave town taking their tax base with them.
SW-User
Its racist and some kind of phobic to suggest that the people who rob the stores are at fault......implying that actions have consequences makes you a white supremacist.

Did I do a good impression of a democrat?
SW-User
@LamontCranston They think social workers are the way to go......which is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

Here's a scenario of how democrats think crime should be stopped:

The social workers would sit the criminals down at a table and engage in a sensitive, inclusive, gender-neutral dialogue about their behavior. They would remind the criminals that they are actually the victims.....because white people exist and continue to insist on existing. The social workers would then emphasize the importance of the feelings of the criminals and how the democrat politicians of their city care so deeply about their plight and, if they are to help alleviate this plight.....they'll need the criminals to keep voting for them, preferably by mail so they vote more than once. Then, while the criminals and the social workers are lightly and sensitively buttering their free trade organic scones (paid for by taxpayers of course) the social workers would conclude the dialogue by asking the criminals what kind of punishment they would prefer.

That's how democrats think crime should be stopped.

@SW-User
Sprinkle that with a dash of Bible-thumping homophobia and it would perfect!

@PatKirby [image]
But those security guards had better not physically harm or hurt the feelings of those criminals because they have right too
graphite · 61-69, M
@SooperSarah Yep. Any attempt to overpower the thieves will get the security guard or cop tossed into jail and the store sued out of business.
SW-User
@graphite Even worse than going out of business.....the owner might get called racist.....which would automatically make them worse than Hitler, Stalin, and the devil himself combined! [Dramatic gasp]
Mayor Stankfoot has a point here... If those damned stores would stop carrying merchandise, people wouldn't steal from them.

The other great solution to Chicago's problems... If people would just quit getting in the way of bullets on the south side, the number of shootings would go way down.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@PrivateHell Both of those are true. I think the first one is being resolved now as retailers and other businesses flee the city.

Trying to shift blame from a crime's root cause away to something else is a sleight-of-hand distraction that magicians use and is a bit like trying to cure the symptom instead of fix the actual cause. Lordy Lightweight is making more excuses for not being an effective mayor.
Another unflushable POS @PatKirby
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
I guess the taxes they pay to the city is not for policing and prosecution. Who knew.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul
What would be different if they were out on bail?
[big]No Bail, numnut.[/big]
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick You think forfeiting a few hundred bucks would somehow change anything? Lol.

The whole bail thing is moronic. If someone is a flight risk or will likely reoffend, simply keep them in jail until their trial. And if someone isn’t, it doesn’t matter whether they have a few dollars sitting around or not.

People in Chicago keep voting for her so I guess that's what they want
carpediem · 61-69, M
@TheRascallyOne She's in her first term as mayor. How's she doing?
TheRascallyOne · 31-35, M
@carpediem in my eyes terrible
carpediem · 61-69, M
@TheRascallyOne Agreed. Awful. And they say in Chicago she was better than the alternative. Image THAT!

Yeah, she'll be reelected.
graphite · 61-69, M
Democrats take responsibility for their utterly failed policies? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
SW-User
@graphite The day they take responsibility or accountability for all their failed and destructive policies will be the day I French kiss a dog's ass.

FFS another BLACK person blaming everyone else - another example of a pathetic person
SW-User
She never fails to smaze and disgust me.
Bat crap crazy
She’s an idiot. Does not deal in reality. During the disturbances in Chicago she had a CPD protection for her 24/7. Typical hypocrite.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Such a shameless passing the buck. She has lost control
Carazaa · F
I don't think that's what she said!
Correct @Budwick
@Carazaa When i watched the news reports on Mayor Lightfoot's statements, I found it hard to believe but they were correct. She presides over (not governs) the murder capital of America.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Carazaa You must be blind. She may have accomplished things in her life. Fine. But she's certainly not qualified to be the mayor of Chicago. She's a disaster. Her policies are awful. She treats others like dirt. She's one of the reasons Chicago is failing. There is no question about it. And those are facts, not "gossip".

But feel free to live in your pretend world.

@QuixoticSoul you seem to know this, so what is the origin?
