The problem with religion

I understand the concept of faith and the concept of God. That is fine by me and faith is as important as love or fear.

But you cannot tell me to read books written by men who think they had visions from God. The biggest analogy is modern day cult leaders.

Most of the holy books have different interpretations which change with time. Why so? Are the books too complex or are they changing interpretations as the world evolves? The answer is latter.

I don't.

If you understand religion, then you will understand that this is part of the religion gig.

@Northwest logic points out to a yes. Religion is fine overall.

How do you keep the masses indoctrinated?

What's your definition of fine?

Yet you think religion is fine overall?

@Northwest yeah. Religion is fine. People need something to hold on to especially when don't understand existence is a curel joke overall.

It's just misery after misery. So i believe an idea of God fixes some issues.

I don't believe in God but majority of people do and I helps them survive. So I'm fine with it.

Duh, yes. From that perspective, it's a good alternative to going crazy, but religion has been the backdrop for most of the world's conflicts, deaths, and discrimination for thousands of years.

Why isn't India today, the same size as the colonial India? And why is India and Pakistan at a defacto state of war, and why do both countries have nuke programs?

@Northwest complex reasons. But religion isn't one of them until the partition is made.

And secondly, religion has always been a tool used by this in power

If you tell a person from say 1150 AD that earth isn't the centre of universe or god's watching over them from the sky then you will be considered a mad man.

So religion, even when it's responsible for lots of war, did a fine job in keeping the masses together.

It's up to us now to talk and think critically about the future of religion in society.

Weird. It's as if you're convinced partition was not caused by religion.

Yes, because that's not what their religion told them.

I am not disagreeing that religion allowed people to evolve from tribes attacking each other, with no "ethical" rules where laws of the jungle were eliminated within one's tribe. into larger "countries" that use the laws of the jungle against each other "countries".

@Northwest well you kinda agreed with me overall except one or two points.

What's the issue?

Yes, and other than one thing, how did you like the play Mrs. Lincoln?
Doometernal · 26-30, M
@Northwest don't know what it is.
Northwest · M
@Doometernal Google it. 🤣
Doometernal · 26-30, M
