Would you support lockdowns for the unvaccinated ?

Austria is days away from ordering millions of unvaccinated people to stay at home, its chancellor has said, in a rare move that underscores the increasing exasperation of European leaders towards those who have not yet been inoculated against Covid-19.

Under Austria's plan, which was agreed in September, unvaccinated Austrians will face a stay-at-home order once 30% of intensive-care beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients. The current rate is 21%, according to the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), and a surge in infections has pushed it up quickly.

Unvaccinated people are already excluded from entertainment venues, restaurants, hairdressers and other parts of public life in Austria. If the new measures come into place, the unvaccinated will be ordered to stay home except for a few limited reasons; the rules will be policed by officers carrying out spot checks on those who are out.

Around 65% of Austria's population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, one of the lower rates in the European Union.
''It is clear that this winter will be uncomfortable for the unvaccinated," Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg warned on Thursday.

This is going to be the way to have a functional economy. If countries fail to do this until they have achieved a really high immunity curve then the economics and the health care imperatives will make the decision for them. Hospitals will overflow, tourism and entertainment businesses will close and other businesses will fail and shed jobs. All because a few people want to be stupid about microchips and 5G signals. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. And the many wont take that for too long before they push back. And some arrangement can be made for essential movement of those unvaccinated for genuine reasons. This is a numbers game..馃樂

@whowasthatmaskedman Nothing new here.
Needs of many... when is it a need to go to bars, restaurants, theaters, etc...where so many go and still claim to worry?
I find it all so ridiculous.

@SW-User Humans are rather ridiculous creatures. Look at professional sport as a pastime for millions who dont actually move from the couch or the bar stool. We have not come that far from the Gladiators.馃樂

@Slade Why are you such an offensive moron? Just because a person is of ethnic origin doesnt make them less of a carrier of disease, or more. On the other hand, if you live in a sick decaying society where some ethnic groups lack services or access to vaccines, I think that says more about your society than my racism. Where I live there are free vax clinics in churches, Mosques, and even horse racing tracks. You have to actively avoid being vaccinated. And here over 90% so far have been and we are not stopping there. I dont care what colour your skin, shape your eyes, god you pray to or gender you identify as. And neither does the virus. Get vaccinated for yourself and for those around you. 馃樂

@whowasthatmaskedman Ditto. I erased his offensive comments and will block him if he comes back with more of the same.

@RodionRomanovitch I am suitably grateful. I welcome alternate opinions, if someone has a reasoned point or a question that needs clarification. But abuse is unnecessary unless you have nothing else to run with.馃樂
