Would you support lockdowns for the unvaccinated ?

Austria is days away from ordering millions of unvaccinated people to stay at home, its chancellor has said, in a rare move that underscores the increasing exasperation of European leaders towards those who have not yet been inoculated against Covid-19.

Under Austria's plan, which was agreed in September, unvaccinated Austrians will face a stay-at-home order once 30% of intensive-care beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients. The current rate is 21%, according to the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), and a surge in infections has pushed it up quickly.

Unvaccinated people are already excluded from entertainment venues, restaurants, hairdressers and other parts of public life in Austria. If the new measures come into place, the unvaccinated will be ordered to stay home except for a few limited reasons; the rules will be policed by officers carrying out spot checks on those who are out.

Around 65% of Austria's population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, one of the lower rates in the European Union.
''It is clear that this winter will be uncomfortable for the unvaccinated," Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg warned on Thursday.

What about the people with genuine exemptions? I don't think that it would be fair to make them isolate indefinitely.

@TheConstantGardener All you will need is a medical certificate, but not from your own doc.

@TheConstantGardener You think the pro-vaxxers care? They only care if THEY are safe from the virus, that is why they are so rabid in their attacks on unvaccinated people.

@helenS I'm not sure of the percentage this group represents but it should be relatively small. I think we can accommodate them.
@SW-User Actually, many of us have vulnerable loved ones we want kept safe. And any progress that helps defeat this virus is a win for the anti-vaxxers, too—I’m assuming they also value their lives ?
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard I value mine, but I'd never lock anyone up to feel safe from them when I or they are not sick.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Loved ones came kept safe without infringing on the lives of others.
@SW-User It isn't to feel safe from them; it's to prevent them from causing another wave, locally, regionally, nationally.
SW-User
@SomeMichGuy Them... I see. The vaccinated have nothing to worry about because that vaccine must be working overtime to keep them from being included as spreaders and receivers. It's the same old story but always aimed at the vaccinated being better off even though they aren't. Hell, some who are vaccinated and like to force it are still posting here that the "vaccine" isn't perfect.
Prevent a wave by you all staying home.
@SW-User But you accuse those who are vaccinated of only caring about themselves, which is ironic. The idea of vaccination is to stop, or at least slow the spread of a deadly virus that affects everyone. The virus doesn’t care what your political beliefs are. I’ve already lost two family members I begged to get vaccinated. Whatever results from this pandemic, even if it’s resolved, they’re gone forever. 🥺
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard And for your loss, I am sorry. I am. At the same time, calling for the unvaxxed to be locked down, ostracized, or even killed as some have suggested, is not right either.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Do you see me trying to force others to do my will?
If you all want it to stop or slow, then follow some safety rules too. Why are people so proud to be able to sit in bars, malls, go to theaters and such when they are probably the first places to pass or get the virus?
People are dying after being vaccinated too. It's sad for all and I'm sorry for your loss. Locking people up isn't going to stop it.
@SW-User I don’t agree with the idea of closing the ICUs to the unvaccinated. That makes no sense to me, and it’s vindictive. But the fact is, the majority of people who are in the ICUs are unvaccinated. I get no pleasure seeing people die, even from their own choices. Do you remember how people were dismissing this virus as something that “only affected the elderly and those with pre-existing ailments” ? So they weren’t concerned ? I’m an elder with diabetes, so basically they were telling me that my little life didn’t matter. And say what you like, many more people have gotten sick and died from this virus than from the vaccines.

@SW-User
I value mine, but I'd never lock anyone up to feel safe from them when I or they are not sick.
Anyone?? Murderers, pedophiles, rapists - or is it just people who agree with you about vaccination, that you'd protect from having their movement restricted?
SW-User
@Really How ridiculous this has gotten. Keep talking stupid and I'll have to block you to stop my eyes from crying.
OggggO · 36-40, M
@TheConstantGardener Generally speaking, most people with a genuine medical reason they can't vaccinate are also aware of the precarious state of their own immune system and are going to be voluntarily avoiding going out as much as they possibly can. It's for their sakes that every who can get vaccinated should, and those who refuse should be quarantined until the pandemic is over.
Them... I see.
Just quoting back your original wording:
I value mine, but I'd never lock anyone up to feel safe from [c=BF0000]them[/c] when I or they are not sick.
You really do go on.

But I'm interested in your Fauci response.

@SW-User
I'll have to block you
By all means do. I'm returning the favor.

@OggggO Thank you for your observation on my comment. I understand that entirely but that has nothing to do with the point I made in response to the question that was asked.
