@beckyromero So odd that the country which was the great center of culture could be brought that low.
The Depression and a VERY harsh Treaty w/Germany (ending WWI) created TRUE runaway inflation, an inability to do some of the manufacturing they had previously been able to do, an international shunning (rather than reconciliation), etc.
It set the stage for Hitler, who promised bread and the ability to be proud of being German, again...

If anything, the Treaty of Versailles wasn't harsh enough!
