The difference is evidence.
There's no doubt about Russian interference. Robert Mueller compiled 200+ pages of details about the ways Russia worked to interfere in the 2016 elections. Here's a link to the raw data: https://www.justice.gov/archives/sco/file/1373816/download
Mueller also catalogued about 100 contacts between Kremlin agents and the Trump campaign.
There is still zero evidence to support Trump's allegations of widespread election fraud. In the 11 months since the election, nothing has emerged except more conspiracy theories. The following links are a bit old now, but nothing new has come to light.

@ElwoodBlues I remember watching Giuliani's witnesses explain the "fraud" they witnessed at a House Committee hearing, and it turned out to be a bunch of people who didn't understand the voting process and simply misunderstood what they saw.
You can see Giuliani at points realise what a farce it was.

@ElwoodBlues I remember when the Mueller report came out. There wasn't any evidence for it.
There were a few Trump executives that were indicted based on their personal dealings with Russia. But that doesn't mean it was evidence that Russia necessarily helped Trump win the election.
If that were true, Trump would have committed treason and he would have been able to actually be charged for it this time.

You have to remember MickRogers...from the beginning Mitch said no way was there going to be an impeachment. Like everything in DC now...everything is partisan.
ElwoodBlues · M
@MickRogers The Trump admin and Trump campaign stonewalled the Mueller investigation, ignored subpoenas, and refused access to documents. Who knows - perhaps the subpoenaed documents would have exonerated Trump! As a result, no dispositive evidence emerged, but there definitely was evidence.

@MickRogers Even if there was definitive evidence of Trump's treason in the Mueller report (and there probably is, seeing as most of it is redacted) then the Republican controlled Senate would have acquitted him regardless.

@ElwoodBlues Although I am no fan of Trump and the stop the steal stupidity is total fiction the Mueller report is not far off either and is a bit of a joke and a political stunt. I mean entire sections of it seem to suggest they are not even aware that Ukraine and Russia have been separate countries for nearly 30 years. Plus it plays into the century long trope of Russia is the source of all bad things in the universe.

a bit of a joke and a political stunt.
Hmm. I honestly don't think holding one investigation is a stunt. Holding eight investigations - that is a stunt! Ukraine and Russia have been separate countries for nearly 30 years
Are you forgetting that Viktor Yanukovych, former Prime Minister & former President of Ukraine fled to Russia in 2014 after being ousted, and that he still lives there under Putin's protection? Are you forgetting that after Ukrainians ousted Yanukovych, Russia invaded Ukraine? plays into the century long trope
Evidence is evidence. "Playing into a trope" is spin. Let's not get the two confused.

@ElwoodBlues
Holding any investigation for political means is a political stunt. It is like Trump calling the Biden family corrupt when everyone in Washington is.
Totally irrelevant. So did Edward Snowden? Your point. Random trivia doesn't matter.
And invaded Ukraine? 🤣 You still believe that line? If Russia invaded Ukraine it would be over in a week or less. The US versus Canada would be a more fair fight.
As for Crimea it is basically nothing more than a Russian Naval base and was only part of Ukraine because of a political move by a Soviet Premier decades before and the Ukrainian government also violated the agreement they had with the people there since 1991. It is also hilarious someone screaming about the Jan 6 fiasco supports a coup by riot in Ukraine that was largely carried out by fascists and neo nazis that make the Proud Boys look like moderates. Different rules for thee though right?
And no, the US has never needed evidence to blame Russia for every bad thing since 1917. You seriously going to claim the Cold War is evidence based? 🤣
Ironically by bringing up all this random stuff you just proved my point that you don't need evidence, just a generic "Russia bad" narrative.

@ElwoodBlues There is also the inconvenient fact that whole fiasco in Ukraine was basically run out of the US State Department of Hillary Clinton.

@ElwoodBlues Figures your only response is a childish insult claiming anyone who doesn't swallow US propaganda completely uncritically is on Putin's side. I am sorry you don't like objective reality and need to descend into decades old cold war tropes and manufactured nonsense.
Not to mention you bring up all this half decade old bullshit to avoid the actual topic of discussion.

ElwoodBlues · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow A big part of the topic of discussion is a half decade old election interference campaign that was quite well documented by the Mueller investigation. I provided a link at the top.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues Nice try. This has nothing to do with this. And you can't accept the Mueller report was so amateur hour it could not even get some basic facts right like the nationality of the people involved, let alone prove anything. You just hand ammunition to Trump's supporters when you cling to political stunts and conspiracy theories that went nowhere. Even Rachel Maddow has given up on this crap.
ElwoodBlues · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The OP asked
And then you try to dismiss it all by saying it's not in the headlines anymore? Can you spin any faster???
How exactly is Trump claiming that there was 2020 election fraud any different from Hillary claiming "Russia, Russia, Russia" about the 2016 election?
thus comparing claims of Russian collusion with claims of massive election fraud. And now you tell me that the well documented 2016 Russian election interference "has nothing to do with this"???And then you try to dismiss it all by saying it's not in the headlines anymore? Can you spin any faster???
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues Except your "well documented election interference" is factually incorrect. I am sorry to tell you this but it went nowhere.
And good job trying to move the goalposts. What has nothing to do with this is re-litigating the coup in Ukraine run from Washington. You brought that up for reasons only known to yourself but my guess is as a distraction.
I am saying dismiss it because it went nowhere and was a political stunt that could not even get the most basic details right let alone prove anything.
Pretty sad you are still pushing Rachel Maddow's conspiracies even after she has given up on them.

@ElwoodBlues Doubling down on tin foil doesn't make Trump's critics look any better.
