“Far left regime.” What universe are you living in?
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@GainerDrew He ran as a moderate but has moved Left since the election.
GainerDrew · 26-30, M
Who the hell do you people think he is? Stalin?@HoraceGreenley
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@GainerDrew No. The Progressives want to move America to statism. That's the term for the Capitalism/Socialism Hybrid in Western Europe.
Biden is going along for the ride. i don't think he cares. He got his, but he's getting pushed by the Progressives and has shown no inclination to slowing them down.
Personally, i think Biden is an empty suit. He's not smart enough to have a real vision.

@HoraceGreenley I really don’t see a more equitable socioeconomic model as a bad thing…
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@GainerDrew But remember this, the only economic system in human history that elevated a majority of a population out of poverty is capitalism.
You don't need to understand economics to grasp that. This is an historical fact.
All other systems have failed at that. All attempts to socially engineer an "equitable" system have failed - often quite miserably.
If you want to do the most good for the greatest number of people, then capitalism is the answer.

@HoraceGreenley so I guess wage suppression and an ever widening income gap are just things that should be considered acceptable?
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@GainerDrew What is wage suppression?"
in America, generally speaking with a few temporary interludes, the standard of living for society as a whole goes up.
This means that over time Americans get wealthier. If you are concerned about an "income gap" than that just means you are jealous. What do you care what someone else makes? You are getting wealthier. An "income gap" is nothing more than petty jealousy.
Besides, who is to determine what is an "acceptable income gap?" Define fair? Any attempts to do so would only spoil the economic engine. People that can make money will go to where they can make the most. imposing artificial restrictions on them will only cause them to leave the US. We lose that economic activity and its benefits.
The very wealthy are so wealthy because for all the wealthy they have, they have created far more for many other people. Capitalism does reward those that create wealth because we all benefit. Frankly, i wish there were more billionaires.
Granted, this is a difficult concept for many to grasp because they don't know the mechanism of how this works. But it is a basic economic fact. it's why this system has not been replaced. Any politician that could actually neuter capitalism would not stay in power long once the constituents start growing poorer.
Those that put forth this idea are offering the argument of a child. intuitively it can get votes, but it won't be put into practice.

@HoraceGreenley if you mean to say that corporate executives collecting obscene bonuses while working families struggle to make ends meet is a good state of affairs, you’re a sociopath. Guessing you’re probably opposed to raising the national minimum wage, too
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@GainerDrew I am opposed to raising the minimum wage. It would reduce the number of entry level jobs. Those jobs are not meant for permanent employment. They are a stepping stone to a better job.
And taking money from corporate executives won't help people. The rich don't have enough money. Even if the federal government confiscated all their wealth, it's not enough to support even a fraction of the need.
You think that there is a finite amount of money, so if one person has more, others have less.
It's a common fallacy by those that don't understand economics.
The way to help people is not to make the rich poorer but create wealth for the poor.
In the US, 80% of the bottom quintile of income move up to a higher income quintile. There are always poor people mostly due to immigration.
In your plan, you'd take money from the rich and spend it on the poor. That money would vanish in a moment. Then what? What happens tomorrow for poor people when there is no more money to confiscate.
I'm not a sociopath. You are ignorant.
Capitalism is the most ethical solution because it does the most good for the most people.
You need to grow up

@GainerDrew You are nothing more than a socialist idiot from a country outside the USA and have no reason to comment about our politics. So kiss my ass and the rest of our country's asses that care about it. You are BLOCKED.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@GainerDrew There are many things in life that are counter intuitive. These concepts are among them.
Until one can understand at least some of them, you're a nobody.
I suggest you start educating yourself because you have a very long way to go.
