Assuming Trump makes good on his threat to run again in 2024, why do you think he wants to be president again?

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow That was then. This time I think he is CERTAIN to run because he needs Twitter. That poll that said 44% of Republicans want him to run is actually not that good. The majority do not want him to run and that number will only increase the longer he is absent from Twitter.

@SW-User I know. The thing is, his ego will not allow him to back down from this. It has gotten him in hot water several times before. I am honestly not convinced Twitter matters that much beyond being an excuse to scream about being persecuted to his base.

@SW-User Another reason is if he gets elected he can offload alot of his debts and legal trouble to the public dime.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow agreed. But I think it does matter because he currently has no platform to scream to his base from, and fewer and fewer people are listening.

@SW-User I think that is only partially true. The media still follows his antics and routinely make fun of him which just ads fuel to the fire and his narrative that he is being oppressed.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow He's the de facto head of the GOP and the front runner for the nomination in 2024, so it's appropriate for the media to cover him. When he's dead or in prison, they can stop.

@LeopoldBloom The problem is the way it is covered and the next election is not for a long time. That is part of why other countries don't indulge this sort of thing because it reinforces the cult of personality. The road to hell and all that.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow In general, our election season is way too long. If Trump were to announce tomorrow that he's not running, a bunch of other Republicans would immediately start their campaigns. The only thing stopping them now is fear that Trump will attack them in case he does plan to run.
