Assuming Trump makes good on his threat to run again in 2024, why do you think he wants to be president again?

Poll - Total Votes: 12
Because he's a selfless, highly experienced politician who cares deeply about the average American
Because it's the only way he will get his Twitter account back

I don’t see how he loses now that many red states have declared even if his opponent wins, the state will give the electoral votes to Trump.

@Human1000 Utter crap. There is NO evidence to suggest this.

@SW-User I’ll come back to this post in 2024 and will expect a full apology from you.
SW-User
@Human1000 There's no need for that. Your country will have far worse problems (i.e. riots) if that happens. By the way, prove it. The only source I can find for this is an undated gamefaqs messaging board.

@SW-User I’ll be back…begin drafting your apology now.

@Human1000 Prove it.
@SW-User I live in Georgia, and the legislature here recently passed a law allowing them to award the state's electoral votes to whichever candidate they want.

The problem is that the Constitution explicitly allows this. From Article II, Section 1: "Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors..." The state legislatures are empowered to appoint their state's electors, and it wasn't until 1880 that every state devolved this process to the popular vote. There's nothing stopping them from taking this power back. The only question is whether they can employ this power arbitrarily after the people have already voted, or if they have to cancel the election and tell everyone that there's no need to vote because they will choose the state's winner themselves.

@LeopoldBloom so in other words, people want democracy to be subverted to let Trump win.

And yet it’s Trump’s own supporters who are crying that their freedom to choose is being taken away from them.
@SW-User Exactly. A large portion of Trump's supporters would be just fine with a dictatorship, as long as their guy was in charge. They're placing "winning" over the democratic process. One thing our constitutional republic requires is a willingness to support the process, even if your side doesn't win. Too many Americans are no longer willing to do that. In their minds, if they lose, that means the process is corrupt.

@LeopoldBloom I heard it said “Who knew our democracy relied on a ‘gentlemen’s agreement.’”
