Do you condone what the white woman with the gorilla mask did, when she threw eggs at a black Republican?

Obviously, any sane person would not condone this, but not all people are sane. I know I didn't hear much of an outcry from the left when this happened. And I get why she wore a mask, but why a gorilla mask?

Personally I wonder if people are reading too much into this.. playing a racist card when there's no proof it is racially motivated.. People throw eggs, it's not nice but neither is it the worst thing.. let's face it several politicians have been shot at in the past. I'd rather be hit by an egg than a gun..

I wonder if people aren't assuming and putting connotations onto the gorilla mask.. it's a mask.. it could be any mask.. the purpose being it hides the identity..

The egg could have been thrown at or hit any one of that party... we cannot assume it was intended for the black man.. and if it was... then we can't jump to conclusion that it was racially motivated.. aka that she threw it at him 'because'
he was black

I can't help thinking that there's a danger here of people using the racist card to suit their own political leanings.. left.. right.. etc..

Personally while I have no room for racists or bigots of any kind, neither do I have room for those who insultingly twist things using a racist card

@Adaydreambeliever I'm sure if this was done to Komeala Harris you'd be bending backwards so far to excuse it

@Adaydreambeliever This is one of the stupidest comments I've ever seen. The lady is wearing a gorilla mask.

@MarshaA She showed up with a comment on the subject and you dove right into insults. That's pretty weak.

@MarshaA @Slade et al. And here we see a classic example.. I respond with a thought provoking and reasoned response, it differs from your chosen stance and so you don't like it.. that's your prerogative.. However, given that what do you do? You start immediately hurling insults, as do others of your ilk..

AND there we have exactly what's wrong with the right wingers.. they shout down anyone who dares to voice disagreement, (usually while accusing everyone who disagrees of not listening to anyone who disagrees, [projection] or of automatically being 'lefties') they don't engage in debate, they ignore facts and all they are interested in is promoting their own ill-founded clap-trap and their own ill-informed agendas of ignorance..

THANK YOU for highlighting that in such a perfect way.

ps, I am honoured if you have heard about me.. I am unable to say the same about any of you, so it seems you are taking way more notice of me than I am of you.

@Adaydreambeliever As a foreigner I steer clear of taking any side in the USA's lively internal politics; but I agree with your general points about bigotry and about twisting the language.

Yes it is wrong - and extremely childish - to throw eggs at anyone anywhere for any reason (though as you say better an egg than a bullet), but in the end the real harm is to the thrower rather than the victim.

And the even more real harm, of course, to democracy (small 'd'!).
