Can Dems and Republicans form a truce?

Funny you ask that. This morning, I came up on a pickup truck that had a giant American flag decal whose stripes were actually the lines of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Pretty patriotic display, no? And to believe so deeply in the Pledge that you keep it near you seems a very patriotic thing to do.

But one word in particular struck me as I looked at the decal. "indivisible with liberty and justice for all."

And yet every day I see people willingly, knowingly tear each other down to prove their side is bigger, better, faster, stronger. We complain how the other guy's destroying the country when it absolutely takes at least two warring sides to accomplish that.

So to anyone who still believes in the Pledge of Allegiance or carries that kind of patriotic accountability with them, it would do us all well to consider the actual meaning of the words we scream in defense of.
