@Pfuzylogic I have thought for a long time that it was odd to have a statue for people that tried to tear this country apart, never made sense to me. But, it's still good to learn about past injustices, so they can be corrected and not repeated.

@fanuc2013 The statues were erected by a racist south trying to reinforce a Jim Crow culture. The constitution doesn’t support an oppression of that type particularly if it makes black persons feel discrimination. When the civil rights legislation passed in 1965-65 they should have been taken down immediately. It is like when a body has a tooth infection. The tooth must be extracted or the body will die. It took 57 years but it is better that it was done.
