Two questions about Afghanistan...

1. Why did so many American citizens go into Afghanistan knowing it was a war zone?

2. Why didn't the tens of thousands of Afghans clamoring to get of Afghanistan (most who have already been airlifted out) fight to save their country from the Taliban and the horrors they don't want to live under?

I'm not sure we'll know the answers to these questions for years, maybe decades.

But one thing the US can stop doing is measuring Afghanistan's success, safety, status, safety and government by our own standards. There are complexities and nuances we can't begin to appreciate. Particularly that crowd who starts sentences with "Those people."
