@SweetNSassy The USA also backed Osama Bin Laden during the Soviet Union's attempt to claim success in Afghanistan, so your specific point is mostly meaningless although it does point out that when it comes to alliances with terrorists and the quagmire of Afghanistan "things" are fluid.
