No Respect: US Athlete Raven Saunders Risks Losing Medal After Flaunting Olympic Rules with Her Political Protest at Medal Ceremony

(From L) Second-placed USA’s Raven Saunders gestures next to first-placed China’s Gong Lijiao, and third-placed Australia’s Liam Adams after comepeting the women’s shot put event during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo on August 1, 2021. (Photo by Ina FASSBENDER)

Saunders said afterwards that the “X gesture” represented “the intersection where all oppressed people meet.” She’s a victim.

She now risks losing a medal. What we do know is that if this is allowed we will now have to endure years of woke athletes parading on the medals stand.
Another institution destroyed by the left.

Sports and politics should be separate. Disrespect your country lose the medal. She was there to represent her country not the division being pushed by the left. It is a privilege that should not be used to further a political agenda. She us absolutely not a victim ,the victims are in the inner city slums not being a pampered athlete.

@kodiac How is this disrespecting your country?

How is anti-racism divisive?

How are you so purposefully obtuse?

@Budwick I'm asking questions. Can you answer them?

@Burnley123 What message is she trying to send? That her country oppresses people? Not true and disrespectful. Anti racism divisive when it seeks to elevate one race above another

She is in favour of equality. Black Lives matter doesn't mean anyone is saying that your life doesn't matter.

What message is she trying to send? That her country oppresses people? Not true and disrespectful.

You are welcome to disagree with her and make that case. Instead, you are trying to shut down her free speech.

@Burnley123 If she wants to stand on the corner and make a statement fine ,not on the tax payers dime.She is there to represent all Americans and like it or not the majority of them do not agree with her .Do athletes pay their own way or for team training ?

@kodiac Excellent points!

@kodiac No but they earn relatively little and work hard to earn gold medals. None of that distracts from your NIMBY attitude to free speech.

@Burnley123 Disrespect for country NEVER happens in MY backyard.

@Budwick Its disrespecting your politics, which is fine.
